The next morning, McKennah woke up at about 8:15 or so and when she caught sight of what time it was she freaked. She jumped out of bed and ran around finding a pair of jeans, socks, a t-shirt and other necessities and booked it downstairs. Justin had just gotten up as well since he had a meeting with the rest of the group later that morning. He looked up as McKennah came running in and grabbed an apple and a cup of coffee. "I am SOOO late! Oh my God!"
"How late are you?"
"So late it's not funny! I had a final at 8!"
"Damn, you better go."
"No duh, I'll be back at like..1 or so. Ummm....just call me whenever you get finished with the guys, k?"
"Alright..go!"
"I am Justin! Geez!"
She ran out to her car and began the fifteen minute drive to campus.
Justin got ready and went downtown to the Jive Records offices and went inside, he knew where everyone was and he suspected he was either the very last one or that Chris would be late.
He opened the door to see JC and Lance there, along with their manager Johnny Wright. He smiled, "Mornin' everyone."
"You are actually up and awake J?," Lance asked.
Justin smiled as he sat down, "Surprisingly yes. Let's just say I got a nice wakeup call when McKennah screamed and began the world's fastest race to make it to school."
"What'd she do, wake up late?"
"Yep..she said she had a final at 8 and it was like 8:25 when she actually left."
"Ooooo.."
"Yeah, she was freaking but I'll call her later to see how it went. Where's Joey and Chris?"
"Late as usual..," Johnny said smiling.
"Of course, and I'm not one of them! YES!"
Joey popped in later followed closely by Chris who both came in and sat down.
Johnny nodded at them and began their meeting, "As you all know, you're free for three weeks which is why I wanted to get ahold of you all before everyone went every which way. After this little break, the second leg of the U.S. tour begins here in Orlando. Two weeks from today, you must all be at the Orlando Arena for rehearsals since I know we'll all be rusty...."
Justin's mind began to wander as Johnny went on and on. It wasn't like he didn't care, he just had a short attention span sometimes.
At 11 o'clock, McKennah exited the classroom building worn out and she felt like she failed her History final. She groaned as her phone began to ring and she picked it up, "Yeah?"
"Hi McKennah."
"Hey J."
"Did you make it to your final?"
She was walking to the parking lot and yawned in response, "Yes..I did."
"How do you think you did?"
"I don't know..I feel kinda..so-so about it right now."
"I bet you did good."
"I hope so..."
"I just got finished at Jive, wanna meet me and the guys and get something to eat?"
"Where at?"
"I dunno.."
"Well..pick a place and I'll meet you all there.."
"Hmmm...I dunno..HEY JACE! WHERE DO YOU WANNA GO EAT AT?! Oh sorry Kennah.."
She groaned, "It's okay, I have another ear."
He laughed, "Aww..poor baby. Huh? Oh okay..JC's suggesting Don Pablo's.."
"Downtown?"
"Yep."
"Okay, sounds good to me."
"K, see you soon then."
"Bye Justin."
"Later Kennah."
She hung up and unlocked her car door. Just as she was about to get in, a shadow appeared over her. She turned around and came face to face with a not so very nice ex-boyfriend of hers, Chris. "Hi Chris."
"Hey McKennah..how are you? Haven't seen much of you this semester."
She smiled as sweetly as possible, "I know you haven't...I made a point of it Chris."
"Ohh, straight to the heart.."
"Sorry. Is there something you wanted? I've got somewhere to be."
"Just wanted to see how you were doing and maybe catch up on some things, ya know what I mean?," He said with a slimy grin that made McKennah want to hurl.
"Chris..lemme give you just a small bit of advie, if you want to keep a girlfriend, you don't spread rumors to your friends about how good she was in bed."
"How'd you know about that?"
"I have some connections. And by the way, you would of known if I was good...believe ME."
With that said, she got in her car, started it and backed out of her space and drove downtown.
She parked in the back of the restaurant and made her way to the front and went inside. Justin was waiting for her in the foyer of the restaurant. He grinned and stood up when he spotted her, "Hey."
She sighed, "Hi J."
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing..really..I just saw someone I really didn't need to."
Justin led her to where the other guys were sitting, "Who?"
"Chris, the bastard."
"I am not!"
She smiled as Chris Kirkpatrick looked totally shocked. Justin pulled out her chair for her and waited for her to sit before he sat down beside her. "Not you Chris. An ex-boyfriend of mine also named Chris. You are not a bastard, trust me."
"Good..there for a minute I thought I'd have to get violent."
Justin looked at him skeptically, "You? Violent? HA!"
"Treading on thin ice there little buddy."
Justin cocked an eyebrow, "Little? I think not."
"Hey! Both of you just let it go.," JC said coming into the arguement.
"Fine.," Both said at the same time.
McKennah watched, amused, "This is what I live for."
"What?," JC asked.
McKennah smiled, "You all are just so..wonderful to be around."
"I'm so glad you love us McKennah.," Joey said.
The waitress showed up and began to take all of their orders for food and drinks. Justin leaned over to McKennah as soon as she left, "I'll buy ya lunch since I kinda caused you to be late this morning."
"No Justin, I'm fine, really. It's not your fault, my alarm just didn't go off...you're not paying J."
"Okay, okay, fine."
She smiled at him, "Thank you. So guys, how is your all's break going?"
