Nick couldn't seem to get Jordyn alone with him for more than two seconds before she found some way to get away from him. He wanted to talk to her, to get her to leave with him. But she'd barely look at him.
He was fuming. He was furious. He watched Brian as he talked with AJ and Sarah. He looked so happy and like his old self. Nick's eyes narrowed as he continued to stare at Brian.
He felt a soft hand touch his shoulder and jumped a little, not hearing anyone come up behind him. He turned to see Jordyn standing there. He smiled, "Hey..."
She forced a smile, "Hey...you looked lonely."
"I thought you were avoiding me."
She shook her head, "No. Just trying to figure things out. And you followin' me around isn't helping."
Nick couldn't help but smile, "Sorry...but when I thikn someone's avoiding me, I tend to just bug the shit out of them until they give in."
"Yea...I noticed."
"You ready to go?"
"Now? We haven't even eaten..."
"I know what Brian said.," He all but whispered.
Jordyn's eyes widened, "Wha..what?"
He bent down close to her ear, "LeighAnne told me....and we are the only ones that need to know the real reason you're with me."
She took a step back and looked up into his eyes, "Do you think I'm with you because of who you are?"
"No."
She looked a little relieved, "Good....because if you thought I was with you because of who you are...then that'd really hurt..."
Nick leaned down and kissed her lips softly and quickly, "I never thought that. Now, can we go?"
She nodded, "Sure."
The car was silent as it made its way down the I-95 interstate. Jordyn looked over, "You know....what he said really did hurt my feelings....it takes a lot to make me cry.."
Nick took ahold of her hand and sighed, "I'm sorry he cornered you like that. And he's the one who told me I needed to start dating....I don't fully get his reasons for it..."
"I think I do....he's being protective. Okay, a little overprotective, but just the same...he's trying to watch out for you. I think he really thinks I'm with you because of the money and because of your persona."
"I'm just...I'm so...so mad at him. He could have just talked to me."
"But he knows how you are...when it comes to women, I guess."
Nick groaned, "I know...but still..."
"I know, I know. But, look...it's over, ok? I can't say I'll forget about it...but if he would make an effort, I could probably forgive what he said."
"I don't see how you could Jordyn..."
She brushed a hand through his hair, "Over time Nick....over time, I can....and if he finally gets over his fears of you dating again."
"He's worried I'll find another Kate....I'm not that stupid."
"You're not stupid at all. He's like your brother, and brothers worry about their younger siblings. And as annoying as it is....it's their job. I think I kind of understand why Brian cornered me in the kitchen like that...he wanted to catch me in a lie...or something...I just...I hope you know that I'm not in this for anything other than you Nick."
He pulled her hand up and gently kissed the top of it with a slight smile, "I know that Jordyn. I think I knew from the beginning."
