"So, you ever think about getting married?"
"I don't know. Do you?"
"Sure...I have for a little while now at least."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah..."
"What about kids?"
"Sure, why not? I'd love to have a kid or two someday..you?"
"More? Well...I dunno..I mean, I haven't really thought about since-"
"He died."
"Yeah.."
"What about us?"
"What about us AJ?"
"Well...in the future I'd love to have a baby with you Madalyn."
Silence came over the phone. AJ pressed the ear closer, he thought she had hung up. "Maddie?"
"Umm..yeah?"
"Ok, I thought you hung up."
"No..I'm here. You wanna have kids with me?"
"Someday."
"You've actually thought about this?"
AJ smiled, "Yeah.."
"Isn't Colin enough for you and he's not even yours??"
AJ laughed, "He's a handful at times, but I think I've come to be able to control him...a little."
"Yeah right, you spoil the crap out of him."
"What's he doin' now?"
Madalyn looked out the bay window at Colin who was in the backyard with one of the neighbors kids. "Playin' in the backyard."
"Give him a hug for me?"
"I will."
"I wish you could come out here.."
"I know..me too..but AJ, I have to work..and he has school.."
AJ sighed, "I know..but..it's lonely out here, ya know?"
"I know..you'll be home soon though."
"Yeah..sooner if LeighAnne goes into labor early."
"You wish."
"Yeah..so Brian would shut the hell up!"
"AJ! He's excited."
"I know..it's the first Backstreet Baby."
"Awww..how cute."
"I miss you Madalyn."
"I miss you too AJ.."
"You do?"
"Yep.."
"I miss kissing you every night before bed...and somehow trying to telepatheticly get you to come sleep in my room for once, but you never do."
"Nope, I know where that got me last time."
"Hey! Me and you do not have a kid together."
Madalyn picked up the paper that was sitting on the kitchen table, "Apparently, we do."
"Huh? When'd we have sex and why don't I remember??"
Madalyn grinned, "Oh believe me honey, you'd KNOW if me and you slept together."
"Ooooooo, Madalyn!"
She laughed, "Anyways, I was at the grocery last night and found a tabloid. Somewhere along the way, they got a pic of me, you, and Colin at Disney."
"That was...months ago."
"I know..I remember the day though.."
"Damn sneaky people."
"I know baby.."
"Ooo call me baby again."
"AJ!"
He laughed, "I'm just kidding..."
"Ok..."
"I'm gonna let you go, alrighty?"
"Ok..you have a show tonight?"
"Yep..I have to leave in about an hour."
"Ok..have fun, enjoy yourself."
"I will..bye baby."
"Bye J.."
"I'll call tomorrow sometime."
"Ok..bye."
"Bye."
She hung up the phone and went outside. A smile lit her face as a plan began to formulate in her head.
"You're sure he has no clue?"
"None whatsoever."
"Alright."
"I'm surprised you're here..what'd you do with the kid?"
"His mom. I'm leaving tomorrow evening anyways."
"That's good.."
"yeah..my son of all people told me the other day that me and AJ needed 'together' time.."
"He did?"
"Yep.."
"Smart kid."
"I like to think so..sometimes. Although I think the guys are ALL bad influences. LeighAnne better just cut off all ties to the other four when the baby's born."
"I tried to tell her that her kid's gonna be marred for life thanks to all five of them."
She laughed, "You are such a trip."
"I know..come on, I'll let you into his room. He won't be here till late, ya know?"
"I know..I'm probably just gonna crash, I'm tired."
"Ok..see ya tomorrow?"
She smiled, "Yep..bye Marcus, and thanks."
"No problem."
Madalyn settled into AJ's room, putting her stuff in a corner. She had decided she would leave early one morning and arrive early afternoon at one of the guys' tour stops and spend the evening/night with AJ and then leave the next morning. She had gotten two days off in a row from work and Denise insisted on taking Colin. It was true, Colin did tell Madalyn that her and AJ needed personal time together. He was so smart and so right.
Madalyn laid on one of the beds, not really thinking she'd fall asleep.
But sure enough, she did.
