Taylor stood out front of the Huntington Pre-School, waiting for the children to be let out. Buses were lined up out front to take some of the kids home. She leaned back against her car and shielded her eyes from the sun. The boys were now four years old and in preschool. They were both excited, hyper, athletic little boys. They were also very smart.
The doors to the preschool opened and two teachers stood by the doors, watching the kids run out. Some ran to their parents or buses or whoeever. Taylor stepped away from her car, looking for the two little boys who looked exactly alike. They came running out a second later together, carrying a long peice of paper each. "Mooommiiee!!," Chris exclaimed running full force.
Taylor laughed as he lunged himself at her. She hugged him, "Hey Chris!"
"Hi mommie!," Nicholas said also hugging her.
"How was school?"
The boys got in the back seat and buckled their seat belts and Taylor got in the front seat. "We had art today!," Chris said.
"Is that what those papers are?"
Nicholas nodded his head vigorosly, "Yep! I painted our house!"
"Very good, Chris, what'd you paint?"
"The beach!"
"Wow, we'll have to hang those on the fridge.."
"Is daddy home?," Nicholas asked.
Taylor looked in the rear view at the boys' hopeful expressions. "Afraid not. But he said he'd be home by dinner.."
"Is Uncle Nick coming??"
"I don't think so. I think Uncle Nick has to go home.."
"What about Uncle Kevin or Howie or Brian?," Chris asked.
Taylor smiled, "Not tonight..we'll see about this weekend, okay?"
"Okay! Can we go to McDonald's?"
"Not today..you had it yesterday."
"But mooommiiieeee..," Chris said starting to whine.
"No Chris."
"Please mommie..with a cherry on top??," Nicholas started in.
"No Nicky..now stop, both of you. How about I fix you two..hmm..grilled cheese sandwiches and french fries??"
"And Kool-Aid??"
She smiled, "And Kool-Aid."
"Okay!," Chris said.
"Yeah! Okay!," Nicholas agreed.
The rest of the ride was silent until they got home.
The boys clamored out of the car and to the front door. Taylor let them in, told them she was going to change, and ran up the stairs to change into something more comfortable.
After changing, she went back downstairs and into the kitchen to fix the boys lunch. They were sitting in the living room watching a cartoon that was on.
Later, Taylor was out back playing with the boys. They were running around the yard, playing something that resembled tag. She sat down in the grass and watched the boys. She heard the sliding door open, but it really didn't register. Chris exclaimed, "Dadddyyyy!!"
Taylor spun around and sure enough, AJ was standing on the deck with his sunglasses on, smiling. Taylor pulled herself off the ground and walked towards AJ, who now was hugging the boys who had bumrushed him.
He looked up and locked eyes with Taylor. He smiled as she came up on the deck and hugged him. "I thought you weren't coming home till tonight..," She said.
"I figured I was done for the day, and decided to come home. So, I did."
"Daddy! Come see what we did today in school!," Nicholas said tugging on his head.
Taylor took Chris' hand and followed them inside.
Taylor massaged AJ's shoulders as he leaned back and groaned, "That feels soo good.."
She laughed, "You're way too tense."
"I know.."
"Is it feeling any better?"
He nodded and rubbed his neck, "Yeah..now come here."
She laughed as he pulled her down onto his lap. "Well..this is nice..," She said.
"I know..God, I've missed you."
"I've been right here.."
"But we're never, ever alone. One of the guys is over, you're working, one of the girls are over, the boys need something, my mom's over, some recording artist is over..blah blah blah."
She smiled, "We're alone now.."
"I know..and I'm cherishing this..," He said brushing her hair out of her face.
Taylor smiled, "I have a surprise.."
"What?"
"Well..I'm not..really sure..yet. But..I am going to the doctor tomorrow.."
"The doctor..wh-Ohhh..Nu uh!!," He said finally realizing what she was getting at.
"Don't act so surprised!"
"Its..its...just..whoa! Not again!"
She punched him in the chest playfully, "Not again?! Whats that supposed to mean?"
"You know I'm joking! So..for real?"
She nodded, "I think so.."
"Sooo..we could have a baby girl?"
She nodded again smiling, "Or another boy.."
"I'm rooting for the girl..I want to spoil her rotten.."
"You do that with the boys already.."
He smiled, "I know..but..we've been waiting for this.."
"I know.."
"If you are..you're so going to take it easy."
She mock saluted him, "Yes drill seargent!"
He leaned forward and kissed her, "I can't believe this.."
"I know.."
"I can't wait till tomorrow.."
"You think I can??"
