In his own room, about five doors down or so, Justin was beginning to get just a bit nervous. He knew he shouldn't of been, but his nerves were shot just a little. He looked at the clock, it was almost time for him to go. Lonnie would be the only security going with them so he hoped they didn't have any big problems that were to arise.
Justin looked in the mirror one last time before grabbing his wallet, cell phone, and room key and heading down the hall to Alexa's room.
He knocked and waited for her to answer.
Alexa's head shot up as she heard the knock and she wanted to scream. The outfit she had finally managed to agree with had something on it, so she went with her second choice. The skirt on the second choice had a hole in it, so she went to her third choice. Her hair wouldn't do what she wanted it to do and now, she had lost her earring that she was about to put in when he knocked. She grumbled and opened the door, "Come on in, I have to find my earring."
"Where'd you lose it?"
"I think it went under the bed...wow, J, you look nice."
He looked down at the black pants and blue shirt he wore before shrugging, "Nahh, not really. Now you, you look great!"
She smiled, "Thanks..third choice."
"Really? I would have guessed first."
"Help me real quick?"
"Sure.," He said getting on the floor.
They looked for a minute or two before Justin jumped up, "I found it!"
"Oh thank you Lord! My mom would kill me if I lost it!"
He handed it to her, "Is it hers?"
"Yeah..she gave them to me..like last year, I guess."
Justin reached and pushed her hair away from her ears, "They're pretty."
"Thanks."
"You ready?"
"Yep. I guess so, what are we doing anyways?"
Justin grinned, "Get your purse and let's go, it's a surprise."
She rolled her eyes, "Okay.."
They left the hotel room and met up with Lonnie near the elevators.
"You so totally forgot to tell me that your fans had found your hotel and that they knew you all were here a day early!"
Justin laughed, "Yes, Yes, I admit it, I forgot."
"I have never been so surprised and terrified in my life!"
Justin leaned back away from their table, "I wouldn't have let anything happen to you."
"Yeah right, you looked about as scared as I did."
"Ok, well Lonnie wouldn't of let anything happen to either of us."
She smiled and turned to wave at the burly man who was stationed not 15 feet from their dinner table. He grinned a little and nodded his head in their direction.
"So are you enjoying yourself?"
She nodded, "Yeah..this is nice."
"Yeah, it is. I don't feel like THE Justin Timberlake right now..I feel...normal."
"You are pretty normal, sometimes."
"Thanks."
"No problem. So..what's up after this?"
"A walk on the beach...it was the only thing I could think of that didn't put my completely at people's mercy."
"That sounds fine Justin."
He smiled, "Good.."
They finished their dinner and paid the bill and then decided they would walk down to the beach and walk along the shoreline for a little while before heading back to the hotel. Justin reached for her hand and was a bit surprised (but elated all at the same time) that she did not pull back. They walked in companiable silence until they reached the boardwalk. Lonnie was behind them a few feet and got a little closer as the two of them passed people left and right.
They were just about to the beach when a loud squeal sounded from their left. Alexa jumped and both her and Justin turned to look as a small group of girls stood just a few feet away, gawking and practically crying. Alexa pulled her hand from his, "You better sign something or something..before they really cause problems."
He nodded and she noticed he tensed a little. He turned to look at her, "I wanted this to be a normal, special night for us Lexi..."
She smiled, "I know Justin, but for you, this is normal. But don't worry, it's still special to me."
"Promise this doesn't ruin it?"
"I promise. Go make your fans happy."
He nodded and smiled, "Anything for you."
Lonnie stepped in closer and helped Justin through the autographs and pictures. Alexa stood off to the side, her arms crossed in front of her as she watched, amused, as Justin smiled and pretty much charmed the pants off all the girls.
Finally, he was done. He turned and grinned at her before holding his hand out to her, "I do believe we have a date with the beach, don't we?"
"I believe so.," She said laughing and taking his hand.
Lonnie just shook his head and let the two continue down the boardwalk towards the beach. He wanted to tell them that they should head back, but didn't have the heart to. Justin needed a good woman in his life, maybe she was finally it. Or at least close to it.
"Ok..I do have another surprise for you.," Justin said finally breaking their silence.
"Justin..you don't have to buy me stuff..."
"I wanted to."
"Justin...we're not--"
"I know, we're not (technically) together...But I'd like to try it. I really like you Alexa, pretty much ever since that night you kissed me I've felt like if I didn't ask you out soon or do something soon, you would be gone from my life."
"Are you sure Justin? I've got alot of shit to deal with.."
"So do I."
"So you figure we can get through it together?"
"Yeah."
She sighed, "I didn't want to admit to having feelings for another guy...after him."
He smiled, "I won't hurt you."
"I know you won't...but there's this little voice in my head that keeps saying any guy is trouble...I trust you Justin."
"You do?"
"I do. So, what's my surprise?"
He smiled, leaning down to kiss her forehead quickly, "Well, okay, I was somewhere..I can't really remember where, but anyways, I was in a jewelry store and saw this...I remember you told me about some bracelet that your mom and Dan got you for your...sixteenth birthday, if I remember correctly. But Will broke it and threw it away...I remember seeing all this pain pass through you that it hurt me too...so..I saw this, and I think it's kinda like the one you had...but it..it just looked like you."
She took the small box from him and opened it, "Oh Justin..this is...this is beautiful.."
"You're not just saying that?"
She slapped him playfully, "No!"
"Ok..just makin' sure."
"It's absolutely beautiful J.."
He stepped closer to her and reached out to put the small, delicate bracelet around her wrist, "I wanted this to be a memorable first date..did I succeed?"
"Oh yeah Justin."
"So...remember how I told you I wasn't ready..for that kiss?"
"Uh huh."
"well...I think I am now."
Needless to say, Alexa happily obliged.
