Justin watched from his spot in the grass as Alexa played basketball with Jon...or tried to play basketball with the five year old. They had arrived at the park about an hour ago and so far had just been running around after Jon as he tried to shoot the ball into the hoop that way too much taller than him.
Alexa finally caught Jon and picked him up from his middle and ran towards Justin and dropped him lightly on the grass next to his older brother. "Thirsty Jon?"
He nodded and hopped into Justin's lap, "Yep!"
Justin handed his brother the bottle of water he had been holding and Jon drank from it hungrily.
Alexa pulled her knees up to her and crossed her arms over them, leaning her head on her arms. Justin smiled over at her, "Tired?"
"Yep..he can sure wear a person out."
"Yeah, but it's a good kinda tired.."
Jon finished his water and smiled at Alexa, "Do I make you two tired?"
Alexa tickled him until he fell over into the grass, "Just a little bit little buddy."
They stayed by the basketball courts for a little while longer and then decided to pack it up and take a walk to the lake a little way's away.
Jon held on tight to Justin's hand as the three walked along the sidewalk. "I'm so glad it's nice out today..," Alexa said.
"Yeah..I miss this kind of weather.."
"When do you all leave again?"
"In about a month..I think...I can never remember though. Maybe you should ask Claire to ask Lance..he's like a human schedule."
Alexa laughed, "Him and Claire are perfect for each other then! Once, me and Claire went on Spring Break together and went to Negril, Jamaica. I think if she could have, she would have scheduled our whole week to the exact minute."
"Really? She'd do that?"
"Yep...but she was kinda..ummm...HAPPY the entire time."
Justin laughed, he knew what she was getting at, "Oooh really...when was this?"
"Like..two years ago..I think."
"I just figure, as long as I get the stuff done eventually and before the deadline or whatever, it's all good."
"That's how I feel about it.," She said.
Jon looked up at Justin, "Can I go run to the dock?"
"Yeah, go on, but stay there until we get there, ok?"
"Okay!"
"Ok, go!"
Jon let go of Justin's hand and took off towards the lake that loomed in front of them. "He's a good kid J.."
Justin nodded, "Yeah..I know.," He said with a sigh, "It's so hard to leave him and my mom all the time though.."
"I bet..I miss Dan alot when he leaves.."
"He used to talk about you all the time...and he'd always have this, ya know, worried look on his face and at the same exact time every day or night he'd run to the phone. Or if someone said he had a phone call, and it wasn't on his cell, he'd like freak out...I never knew why.."
"Now, I guess you do.."
"Yeah.."
He stopped before they reached the dock, "Are you still scared....that he'll find you?"
"He already has...there's not much I can do unless he actually does something to me, physically. Trust me, me and Dan have looked into the whole restraining order thing..."
"You seem so calm about it.."
She shrugged and pulled her hair from her face, "I don't know what to do anymore..."
"You know, Alexa, that you can call me whenever or whatever it's about..I won't care..we're friends now.."
"I know..and I appreciate that..so much Justin.."
He smiled, "Better catch up with him before he jumps in.."
Her eyes widened, "Will he??"
"Nah...he's a pretty smart kid.."
Alexa stepped up and went to go catch up with Jon. She just assumed Justin was following behind her.
Jon stood on one of the wooden planks and looked over, "Hey Alexa! Come here and look!"
"Look at what Jon?"
"Look! There's a bunch of fish and stuff!"
Alexa leaned over and looked in, "Wow..cool...do you like to go fishing?"
"Yeah..my stepdad takes me in the summer and Justin said this time he hoped to come with us..it'd be sooo much fun! I hope everything works out and Justin can come because I miss him whenever he goes away..."
"I bet.."
"Have you ever been fishing?"
She nodded, "Yeah, but I was pretty little...Dan, me, and my dad used to go alot when we all still lived at home.."
"Ohhhh...did you like it?"
"I liked everything but putting the bait on the hook and getting the fish off the hook...oh yeah, and cleaning the fish..eww, that's just nasty."
Jon laughed, "Those are the best parts!"
"Maybe that's cause you're a boy and boys like gross stuff like that.."
He laughed again, "Maybe!"
Alexa turned and looked around, Justin was nowhere to be found. "Where'd Justin go?"
Jon turned around as well, "Dunno..."
"I could of sworn he was behind me when I came to get you...come on, let's go find him, ok?"
"Ok!"
Jon took her hand and they walked back towards the sidewalk.
Jon just had to jump off the edge of the dock and took a minute or so to do that, he then re-took Alexa's hand and they walked up the hill a bit. She spotted Justin almost immediately, he was talking to a tall, blonde girl.
Justin heard two people come up behind him and silently prayed that it wasn't any fans. He turned and almost wished it was a fan or two..it was Alexa and Jon.
He smiled, weakly, and Alexa noticed it, "Hey you two, why don't you all go on up to the car and I'll be up there in a minute?"
She nodded, "Sure..can I have the keys?"
"Oh yeah! Sorry, I forgot, here you go.," He said tossing her the keys to his mercedes.
The two walked past him and the girl and Justin waited until he couldn't see them anymore. He sighed and turned back to her, "Hi Emma."
Alexa put Jon into the backseat and got into the passenger seat, put the keys in the ignition and started it so the air conditioner and the radio would come on. Jon leaned forward, "Will you turn it to 106.7? Please?"
"Sure will.."
"I didn't know Justin was seeing her again..," He stated suddenly.
"Seeing who?"
"Emma.."
"He's not Jon, Justin said he's single..I thought..and when'd you see Emma?"
"Down there! With Justin. Lexi, that was Emma."
