Chapter 2- Moving Forward

Madison sat in her car across from the Park Street Studios near downtown Orlando. Brian had been right when he had come to her house last week, she needed to let herself go. She needed and wanted to see Kevin. She needed some sort of closure, not necessarily breaking up with him, but just talking to him. She sighed, she'd been sitting across the street for almost an hour. She recognized AJ's expedition, Nick's durango, Howie's mercedes, Brian's jeep, and Kevin's 4-Runner. She sighed as she wrung her hands together. She sat up straighter as the doors opened, she could spot AJ two miles away if she had to in what he was wearing: a bright orange shirt and khaki pants. Next out was Howie and Brian who were laughing about something, then Nick came out carrying a basketball. And Kevin was out last, Madison was practically holding her breath when he walked out. He walked normally, straight and tall, long, powerful strides. He walked as if nothing had ever happened. Madison smiled slightly, it was so good to see him up and walking.

Brian spotted her car, turned to say something to the guys and jogged across the street. Madison was suddenly very nervous. Brian leaned in the passenger window, "Hey you, you been here long?"

"'Bout an hour.."

"Ohh..sorry, recording went into overtime...sooo..you gonna make an appearance or what?"

"I dunno Bri..he may hate me.."

Brian rolled his eyes, "I've told you over and over Mads, he DOESN'T hate you."

She sighed and then took a deep breath, "Okay..I might as well act like I got guts.."

Brian smiled and stood up straighter as she got out of the car and grabbed her purse.

He smiled at her reassuringly as they started across the street where the other four were hanging out. Nick was spinning the basketball on his finger and talking to Kevin when he spotted Madison out of the corner of his eye. He tried not to smile, Kevin could be so oblivious sometimes. AJ looked over the rim of his sunglasses and grinned, "Hey girlie!!"

Madison laughed as AJ broke out into a full run and ran up to her, hugged her so hard he picked her off the ground and spun around in a circle before setting her down. "Damn girl, you have just gotten more gorgeous! How are ya??"

"I'm good J..and don't let Amanda hear you talking to me like that or she'll kick your ass."

He smiled, "I know, but seriously, it's good to see you again."

By that time, Howie had come over and Madison reached over to hug her beloved D. "Hey Mr. Sweetie, how are you?"

He smiled, "Just fine, how are you doing?"

"I'm okay.."

"Hey! Let me in to see her!!"

Nick bounded over and wrapped Madison in his huge form. She laughed as he dramatically kissed her on the cheek, "Damn its been too long!"

"I know Nicky, how are you?"

"I'm good, I'm good.."

Madison strted to get nervous again as she realized Kevin was the only one she hadn't talked to or seen yet. He stood in the back of the group, with a blank stare on his face. To Madison, she perceived his gaze as hateful and mean. She screamed at herself as tears began to form in her eyes.

Kevin couldn't believe it..almost a year.

Almost a year had passed since he ruined his life.

Almost a year had passed since he had seen Madison's gorgeous green/blue eyes and that hair he loved running his fingers through.

She looked good, reeeally good. She would of almost looked back to normal if her eyes hadn't revealed the hurt and pain she was going through.

He then realized she was walking away, he also realized he made it look like he was angry with/at her.

He brushed past the guys, trying to get to her before she reached her car. "Wa..wait Madison."

She stopped about three feet from the driver's side door, her back still to him. He had actually spoken to her...and he didn't sound angry or mean. Kevin lowered his head and stuffed his hands in his pockets, "I'm not nor have I ever been mad at you."

She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, "You..you're not?"

Kevin shook his head, "No...never Madison...we just..we just need to talk."

Madison nodded her head, "I know.."

"Dinner, that little restaurant we used to always go to, tonight at 8. That okay with you?"

She nodded, knowing exactly where he was talking about, "I'll be there.."

"Okay...okay..I'll see you then."

When she finally turned around, he was walking back to the studio. Madison sighed, least it was over, and got into her car.

Now she just had to get through dinner with a man she still loved deeply.
