Epilogue

Two Years Later

Okay, so it had been two long years since Kevin and Madison had gotten married. The first year was perfect; although everyone says the first year of marraige is the hardest. To that Madison replied, "It seems like we've already been married for years. We just made it official."

They were still living in Orlando, although in a different house that was bigger and more spacious. Especially since they had added a new edition to their family. Matthew Jerald Richardson, born July 17, 2002 at 5:30 a.m. weighing in at 7 lbs. 6 oz.

Kevin was the 'perfect' father; he and the other guys loved spoiling the first Backstreet baby.

"Kevin? Where're you at??"

"Down here with Matt.."

Madison smiled to herself, geez, he was ALWAYS with Matthew anymore. She walked down the stairs and into the living room where Kevin had Matt on the floor playing with a few of his toys. "There you are with him..I was wondering if someone had kidnapped him.."

Kevin smiled, "Nope..it was only me."

"Should of figured.," She said sitting down next to Matt on the floor.

Matt pulled himself onto all fours and crawled towards his mother. Madison picked him up and set him in her lap. He turned around a little and reached out for her hair. She had learned the hard way that babies love to pull on things; especially hair.

Kevin reached out and put her hair behind her ears where Matt couldn't reach, she smiled at him before planting a kiss on Matt's forehead. Kevin grinned, "So..what do you say me and you get out tonight and go out to dinner?"

"Umm..we have a kid under the age of, oh say, 13, can't leave him alone.," She said as if he was stupid.

Kevin laughed, "No, really Mads? I thought we could just leave Matt here on the floor and hope he doesn't kill himself. Geez, I'm not dumb."

"I know..anyways..so..how do we get out?"

"Easy..I called Brian and Leigh and they said they'd watch Matt tonight for us."

"You called them without talking to me first?"

"Mads..it's called the element of surprise. We haven't been alone in...well..I don't know when, so I figured we could have a nice, quiet dinner alone..it's been a long time.."

She nodded, "It has."

"So what do you say?"

Madison looked down at Matt, "But..I've..we've never..left him with anyone before..for that long."

"Besides my mom."

"True."

"Honey? Come on..it's not like we're giving him up to Brian and LeighAnne...we'll be gone four hours tops. When we get back he'll be in his crib asleep..he'll never know we're gone.."

She sighed, "Okay."

Kevin smiled and stood up, "Good, I'll go call Bri."

Later that night, Kevin was driving them towards the coast. Madison had tried to figure out where he was taking her but had no clue. And Kevin was no help; he wouldn't tell her either. "Come on Kevin..this is getting annoying.."

"Me? Annoying? Well..I never.."

She rolled her eyes, "Men."

"Madison!"

She started to laugh, "What??"

"I can't believe you...fine...look at the next sign, maybe that'll help you."

She looked out the window and saw a big green interstate sign a few seconds later. She smiled and looked across at him, "You're taking me to the beach house?"

"See? I knew you were smart."

"Anyways...I thought you sold it!"

"I did, to Howie. But he said I could use it whenever so I called him yesterday, told him what was up, and he said sure, no problem."

"Has he even used it?"

"Yep..it has food Mads..I made sure of that."

She smiled, "Well that's always good."

He nodded, "We'll be there in a few minutes."

A few minutes later, he was right. He parked in the driveway and Madison met him at the walkway.

Inside the house was dark, Kevin flipped on a few switches and light flowed throughout the house. Madison smiled, it had been almost a year and a half since she had been in the beach house. Kevin had decided to sell it since they didn't use it much. Howie had offered to buy it and he did. He hadn't done much re-decorating to it, mostly everything was the same. "Go sit down at the table and I'll be there in a sec."

She nodded and went into the dining room and found it set for two. Two candles were lit in the middle. She smiled and sat down at one end of the table. Kevin came in a second later with two plates of food and then disappeared and then re-appeared with drinks. "Now..we eat."

She smiled, "Kev..I can't believe you did this.."

"Why not? We used to do stuff like this all the time.."

"Used to would be the key words."

"I know we haven't had much 'us' time since Matt was born and since I started producing more...I didn't like feeling like I was losing you so I decided to do something about it."

"You thought you were losing me?," She asked confused.

He nodded and smiled sheepishly, "I don't know why but I just felt like I was losing the Madison that I fell in love with. We barely talked, I get home at weird hours and hardly saw Matt for like two weeks. I'd come home early and you'd be out or you'd come to the office with Matt and I'd be too busy to come see you two..."

"Kevin..I understand that your life is busy and demanding..I think I have for like ever now."

He smiled, "I know.."

"And I know that me and Matt aren't the only people in your life. I haven't felt like I was alone; I love spending that quality time with Matt..he's so much like you it's weird."

"Really? You think so?"

She nodded, "Yeah..he's got these little..things he does that just remind me of you somehow. I don't know how to explain it."

"Have you ever felt like..I was neglecting you?"

"No! Kevin!"

"I just have to ask Madi.."

"No..I've never felt like that. You try to make time for us and I admire that. You at least TRY, and thats what matters. I know you're not out runnin' the streets with some ugly woman, I know you're coming home to me and Matt...and I know that one day soon your life will kinda calm down and you'll be able to spend more time with us than usual."

He smiled, "You're too understanding sometimes..you know my life better than I do!"

She laughed, "I know..kinda weird, huh?"

"A little bit."

"I love you and I know you love me and I think that's all we need in our life."

"Very good way of putting it."

"I thought so."

They arrived home about 11 p.m. and Brian and LeighAnne left. Madison was in Matt's room looking in on him when Kevin came in. "He's so perfect.," He said looking over her shoulder.

She nodded, "He is..."

"How'd we do that Mads?"

She laughed quietly, "Kev..you were there, you should know."

He laughed and wrapped his arms around her, "Madison..you're awful."

"Yep I know."

"But you love me anyways."

He kissed her neck lovingly, "Forever and ever and ever.."

She turned around and smiled up at him, "Yeah..and ever and ever and ever and ever..."

He laughed, "Madison..you're something..you know that?"

"Yep..but just think about our son when he's like 18..."

"Oh Lord..I'm scared.."

"Yep..," She said pulling him out of the room and towards theres, "So maybe we should keep Matt away from AJ..you know how AJ is."

"AJ's crazy but he won't influence Matt in a bad way."

She nodded, "I know..just kidding anyways...I love you Kev."

He smiled before kissing her, "I love you too Madison."
