Madison's eyes widened as Steve and the man next to him stood up to greet them. Marcos smiled at the two men, "Let me get the introductions out of the way; this is Madison Langley and she's the manager of the club while the two owners are away on business. Madison, this is Steve Canton and Joe Hancock; they're interested in becoming partners with Howie and AJ."
She nodded and shook the two men's hands, "It's nice to meet both of you."
Joe smiled, "You as well."
Steve just nodded, he held her hand for a little longer before letting go. The four sat down and pretty much began the inquisition.
An hour and a half later, Madison and Marcos were walking towards the parking lot to their cars. Joe and Steve had left a few minutes eariler. "I'll see you tomorrow night, right Mads?"
She nodded and smiled at him, she could tell he knew something was up with her. "Yeah..I'll be here about 8 or so, okay?"
"Sounds good..I'll see you then."
She nodded as he got into his car. Her cell phone rang, she picked it up and answered it, "Hello?"
"Hey gorgeous."
She smiled at the sound of Kevin's voice, "Hey Kev..what are you doing calling me?"
He laughed, "Well, radio interview canceled, tv show postponed till tomorrow morning. Soo..I'm sitting here in my hotel room all lonely and decided, hey, let's call Madison."
"Well that's good to know.."
"Meeting finished?"
She sighed, "Yeah.."
"What's wrong?"
"It was just tiring and I don't think they're the right people for AJ and D."
"Who were they?"
"One guy was Steve."
"Steve?"
"You know....Steeeve.," She said stressing the name."
It clicked in his mind suddenly, "Ohhhh..Steve..and how was that?"
Madison leaned against her car rubbing her forehead, she could tell a headache was coming on. "It was just..uncomfortable. I don't think he expected me..it was just..shocking..you know?"
"Yeah..I bet.."
"He was..so..so..cold. At least that's how he seemed. But, I just don't think they're right for D and AJ at this point in the business..they're too..I dunno..uptight or something."
She heard Kevin sigh, "I understand...Howie said for you to call him tonight, about 8 or so."
"I will.."
"You okay?"
"Yeah..I'm gettin' a headache though."
"Go on home then, take an aspirin, take a nap."
"I was going to go to your house; feed Reese and let him out. Then, I was gonna go take a nap."
Kevin smiled, "Well you do that..I'll call you late tonight, okay?"
"Sounds good.."
"Soo..when are you gonna come back with us?"
"After next week sometime..okay?"
"Yep..I love you Madison.."
"I love you too Kevin."
"I'll talk to you later."
"Okay..bye."
"Bye Madi."
She turned off the phone and unlocked her car doors. "Madison? Can we talk?"
She turned around to come face to face with...Steve.
