The next day, the guys were off for promotional stuff at MTV and around New York City. Madison and LeighAnne decided to spend the day down at the hotel pool and then go out for some lunch and then some shopping. Madison groaned as another little kid splashed her as he jumped in. LeighAnne just laughed, "I told you that spot would be bad."
"I guess I should of listened."
"Should have.."
"What time is it anyways?"
LeighAnne glanced at her watch, "Almost 1."
Madison nodded before getting up and pulling her towel around her tightly, "We should head up and get changed."
"Yep.."
The two walked through the hotel lobby and to the elevators before heading up to their rooms.
The two women shopped to their hearts content that afternoon. Now, they were in a music store looking around, well Madison was, LeighAnne was just along for the ride. "Madisooooonnnn..."
"What Leigh?"
"Come here!," She said waving her over.
Madison put back the cd she had been looking at, then walked over to LeighAnne, who was looking at some Backstreet Boys import cd. "Look at this cover.."
The two began to crack up; the picture on the cover of the cd was so old, the guys all looked like they were about twelve with bad haircuts. Madison couldn't stop laughing at Kevin, he looked so weird!
"Dude, we should get this and show them.."
"No way! I've heard all these songs before..we'd be wasting..damn, twenty dollars!"
"Okay..putting cd back, we don't want it that bad."
They left the music store soon after and began the walk back to the hotel. "So is Kev taking you out tonight?"
"Thats what he said..he said dress nicely but I don't know what to wear...he won't tell me where we're goin' either!"
LeighAnne smiled inwardly, she knew exactly what was going on. "Don't worry..it'll be nice.."
"I guess so..I'd better get up to the room and get ready..he said be ready by the time he got home."
LeighAnne nodded as the elevator stopped on their floor and they got off, "Then you'd better hurry..its 7:30 already.."
Madison nodded as they came to her room, she fished the key out of her pocket and unlocked the door, "I guess I'll see you later."
LeighAnne nodded, "Yep..see ya later."
Madison entered the empty hotel room and dropped all of her bags on the floor. She flipped on the light, turned on the tv and then went to find her dress she had bought. Kevin had forgotten to tell her to bring anything real dressy to New York so of course, she had to buy something. She lifted the bag marked Express and dug through it, damn, her bank account was surely almost dry with all the shopping and buying she had done that day.
She glanced at the clock on the nighttable, 7:35. She had 25 minutes to look halfway decent. Madison took the dress out of the bag and hurried into the bathroom.
Twenty-five minutes later, Kevin was walking in the door. "Madison? You ready yet?"
He looked towards the bathroom as he heard her voice, "Yep, hold on a sec."
"Okay." He said sitting on the bed.
She emerged a minute later and he couldn't help but stare. "Damn woman..I don't know if we should go out or not.."
"Why?"
"You look too good."
She laughed, "Thank you..are you ready??"
"Yep..lemme fix my tie and we can go."
She walked over to him as he fixed his tie in the mirror and put her arms around him, "And exactly, where are we going?"
He turned from the mirror and kissed her gently, "The meaning of the word surprise has no meaning, does it?"
"Hmmmm...nope.."
"Thought so..anyways, I'll give you this: its about an hour's drive from here and we're staying there all night."
"But I didn't pack anything to wear tomorrow.."
"Don't you worry your pretty little head about that, I've taken care of everything..besides that dress you have on now.."
"Do I look okay? I mean, I only had like 20 minutes to get ready..thats SO not enough time for a woman to get ready for something.."
"You look fine..gorgeous, beautiful..any other compliment you'd like to hear?"
She laughed, "No, that's okay.."
"Well, come on, we'd better get going."
They made their way to an awaiting limo and got inside.
"Keeevviiiinnn...I'm begging you..tell me where we're going!"
Kevin laughed as they made their way into upstate New York, "No Madison..damn, you're impatient."
"You're right, so tell me!"
"Nope..now you're going to have to be good and put on this blindfold.," He said reaching behind her head.
"Kevin..I don't know about this.."
"Do you trust me?"
"Yes. With everything I am."
"Good..nothing is gonna happen thats bad Mads..I promise you that."
"okay"
She felt the car come to a stop and the driver open her door a second later. He helped her out, then she felt Kevin put his hand on her lower back. The driver and Kevin exchanged a few words and then she heard the car leave. Kevin nudged her forward and they began the walk uphill. "Damn Kev where'd you take me? The boonies?"
He laughed, "Nope, not quite."
"I swear Kevin, if anything happens like in the Blair Witch Project, it is over and I am running home."
He laughed again, "Madison, that was just a movie."
"Yes, a movie that freaked the hell out of me thank you very much."
"Just a couple more feet, there's a step. There you go.," He said leading her up the front walk way.
He stood behind her and untied the blindfold and let it fall from her eyes. She gasped, "Kevin..this..this is beautiful...where are we?"
"Its a lakehouse near Jamestown, New York. Nick suggested it."
"Wow..this is amazing.," She said staring up at the huge, wooden lakehouse that loomed in front of them.
"Come inside and we'll get the evening started."
She followed him inside the house. The interior was amazing, just as the exterior was. Huge, vaulted ceilings were decorated with simple, artistic ornaments all about the house. He sat her down at the dining room table and disappeared into the kitchen. A minute later, Kevin re-emereged declaring, "Dinner is served."
After dinner, Madison still couldn't figure out why they were here in this place. She ran through all the dates in her head; it wasn't her birthday..or his. It wasn't their anniversary, any of them. She had to ask...this was confusing her.
"Kev? Can I ask you something?"
"Of course."
"Why are we here? I know its not my birthday or any other important date...so..I mean..why?"
He smiled, "Well...for one, I wanted to be completely alone with you. And in the city, I know that won't happen because people know we're there so Nick suggested this nice romantic dinner and overnight stay."
"Did you rent this house?"
"Yep..for two days."
She smiled, "So we're away from everything for two days?"
"Yep..although, I have to admit, everyone else knows the true reason I brought you here."
"And why's that??"
He got out of his chair and walked towards her. Madison didn't know why but her heart began to beat just a tad faster than usual.
Her eyes widened as he knelt down in front of her, bringing out a small ring box. "Madison, I never got the chance..before to ask you properly and I know I hurt you and I hurt myself, but I truely cannot see myself with anyone besides you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?"
Tears almost immediately sprung to her eyes, she didn't cry unless it was extremely serious and awful but..she was so happy. She nodded, "Yes, yes I will Kevin."
He smiled at her and brought her closer to him before kissing her deeply. "God, I love you.," He said as he hugged her.
She laughed through the tears, "I love you too Kevin."
"Do you know how happy you've made me?"
She smiled and ran her hand through his hair, "I can only imagine.."
"It looks amazing on you..," He said as he held her arm up looking at the small, intricate diamond on her left hand.
"Its so pretty Kev.."
"I thought you'd like it."
"I love it.."
She rolled over onto her stomach and looked at him, "Do you know how sappy we sound?"
He laughed and ran a hand through her long hair, "Very..but thats okay.."
"Yeah.."
"I know..Madison, that you wanted to take things slower..but..I couldn't wait."
"I understand Kev..beleive me, I understand. And it's perfect timing, trust me."
He smiled gently at her before leaning over and kissing her deeply.
I give you my word, I give you my heart. This is a battle we've won and with this vow, forever has now begun.
Just close your eyes, each loving day and know this feeling won't go away. Till the day my life is through, this I promise you. This I promise you.
Over and Over I fall, when I hear you call. Without you in my life, baby, I just wouldn't be living at all.
