Nick threw the paper down on the coffee table and stood up to walk into the kitchen. "Baby??"
"Yeah??"
"Want me to fix Tyler's breakfast?"
She poked her head around the corner and smiled, "Would you?"
Nick grinned, "Of course."
"Thanks..I'll bring him in in just a second.."
He nodded, "I'll be here."
She disappeared again and he turned, the smile still on his face, and went to making Tyler's breakfast.
Isabel came into the kitchen a few minutes later, Tyler on her hip. Nick grinned and reached for the baby, "Commere baby boy.."
Tyler laughed and reached out for his dad. Isabel smiled and let him go and then sat down at the breakfast table.
News of Nick's return had spread quickly through Orlando, and then the rest of the country and then the world. The guys had come over as soon as AJ had let it out that Nick was back, they had had a party pretty much right then.
Aaron flew in a week later with BJ, Leslie, and Angel in tow.
Nick hadn't heard from his mother but his dad called two weeks later to make sure he was alright and planned to come for a visit soon.
Since Nick was such a hot commodity all of a sudden, he decided he needed to be alone with Isabel and Tyler..so he rented a house on a small island off the coast of Maryland and they had been there for almost a week.
Nick put Tyler in his high chair, Isabel reached for the bowl of Cheerio's sitting by her and handed one to him. "Where are you going?"
"I've gotta show you something..be right back."
She nodded and looked back to check on Tyler as he threw a Cheerio across the table.
Nick came back with the paper in hand and dropped it in front of her, then sat down. "Read the front page article, near the bottom."
She picked it up and looked it over, finally finding the one he was talking about.
After she finished the small article, she looked up meeting Nick's eyes, "Her?!"
He nodded, sadly, "Yeah.."
"Harold didn't say anything about that..."
"He didn't know. But the doctor apparently told the police and investigators..."
"Ohhh..."
"I never thought she'd do something..that drastic. My dad had no clue.."
"But your mother??? I don't get it.."
Nick shrugged, "I don't either..I really don't..."
"I never would have thought.."
"Me neither.."
"Are you okay?"
Nick nodded, "Well..yeah..It's kind of numbing, ya know?"
"I bet.."
"But..it's finally and completely over..now."
"Yeah...I guess so.."
Isabel watched as Nick lifted Tyler out of the rolling wave that touched his feet. Tyler squealed with delight as Nick swung him around. He grinned and carried him back over to Isabel. He took her hand and they continued their walk down the beach. "This is a tad bit familar..," She said.
Nick looked around, she was right. The sun was setting, the waves softly rolling onto the sand, the tide beginning to come in. The sky was stripped in oranges, reds, pinks, purples, and blues creating quite a scene. He nodded, "Yeah..it is."
"No surprise vacations, huh?"
He laughed, "Well..it wouldn't be a surprise if I went and told you baby.."
"True..but still! Tell me!"
He kissed her gently, "Maybe later...when the kid's not around."
"Nick!"
He laughed and kissed Tyler's forehead, "I'm jokin..hey, you ever think of expanding our little family?"
"I have before.."
"Me too.."
"Really?"
"Yeah..you gotta have one of both; a boy and a girl."
"Sounds like you want a friggen basketball team."
Nick laughed, "Our house is big enough.."
"Nick!"
"I'm joking! I don't think I could handle that many kids.."
"I don't think you could either..but one more would be nice."
He put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to him and Tyler. "We'll have to talk about this later, I do believe."
She smiled, "I think so too.."
They made the picture perfect family. If someone had had a camera at that moment, it would of been a great picture. Their sillouhetes the only thing visible, but anyone could tell from miles away that they were incredibly happy..and they were to stay that way forever.
