Thursday, June 21st is going to be forever etched into my mind. This was the day of my fourth BSB concert in the state of Kentucky. But get how weird this is; now I have been to 2 in Louisville and 2 in Lexington. Two were during the winter months and two were during the summer months. I thought that was so cool! Lol
So anyways, that day started off normally, I woke up super early; we're talking like 7 a.m....and I went to bed at like 2..lol :). I didn't have to work, Lord only knows why I didn't have to..lol :) But anyways, I did my normal thing and then met my friend Ashley at her workplace.
On my way there, I oh so convieniently forgot the tickets and had to go back home.
So, me and her went to the mall to find something "suitable" to wear. I decided I didn't want to wear anything from the place I work; which is now like half my wardrobe. We went through one side of the mall searching through stores and finally ended up in Lerner's and found shirts for us to wear. WOOHOO! Then, we went to Ashley's house to get 'sexi-fied'. :) I love that word, thanks JC. lol
About 5:45 we met up with our friend Susan (who has been to all the other concerts w/ me, this was Ashley's second BSB concert), and Susan's sister and some of her friends. We ate, whined about it raining, and then braved the traffic in downtown Lexington to find a parking spot. It was like a friggen torrential downpour by the time we got like halfway to Rupp Arena, but it let up pretty much as soon as we forked over money to pay to park across from a parking garage. We then, walked like the 10 miles (not really..lol) to Rupp Arena.
Me, Susan, and Ashley all figured out something odd when we entered the Civic Center; that's the building connected to Rupp Arena it has some shops, restaurants, the UK B-Ball Museum and the UK store. We figured out we were some of the tallest people there NOT parents. lol We had a good laugh about that.
We had to stop and make sure our cameras were hidden because once before they have checked our purses. I had one in the front pocket of my purse, it looked like a cell phone, and the other tucked into my check book. Yes, I took two..and they both came in handy. lol
Turns out, they didn't check our purses. I was kinda bummed, here we went to all this trouble to hide them and they didn't even check! Anyways....we entered Rupp Arena and me and Ashley left Susan, her sister, and her friends to go find our seats.
A note about mine and Ashley's tickets: I got them from a very nice woman on the Internet, apparently they were some of the fanclub tickets.
I knew our seats were good, but I didn't know they'd be THIS good! I don't know how many feet we were from the stage but let's just say I could see Nick sweat and see that Kevin's cornrows needed to be redone. lol
Ashley spazzed, as did I. We called Susan and waved to her from across the Arena. They were on the other side right by one of the 'wings' of the stage. That was actually the side that Nick spent most of his time on, damnit. I was pissed off at him till later..:) hehe
I knew it'd be loud and I knew I'd be practically deaf before it was all over, but I didn't think I would still be hard of hearing the next day.
Ashley said she wasn't feeling well so I switched places with her so she would be on the aisle so if she like uhh..needed to, she could bolt up the stairs. lol
The lights go out and Krystal comes on stage. Now, I had some reservations about this girl because I've heard her song and I've seen her pics on the Internet but I had never heard her SING live. I was pleasantly surprised. Girl can SING! lol She was really good, I really liked her whole performance. The Boys know talent when they see it, I'll give 'em that much credit.
She finishes and we wait like 10 or 15 minutes for Shaggy to come out. Dude, I am now a full-fledged Shaggy fan. He is an awesome performer...lol Of course, he sang "It Wasn't Me", "Dance and Shout", and my favorite song right now, "Freaky Girl". He sang "Angel" as well and at the end brought out the most adorable little girl, she was maybe 4 or 5 at the most and him and his backup singers sang to her. It was cute. :)
Shaggy ends with a bang, literally, with confetti blowing up everywhere. At this point, I decide to go to the bathroom. Knowing that bathroom lines get loooooooong, I went fast and got back within like 5 minutes. I was excited. lol
BSB didn't come on stage till about 9:20 or so. Only way I can remember that is because I looked at my watch right before the lights went down and the girl beside me who was like all of 14 screeched so loud, I flinched. lol
I held my camera up until they appeared on stage and took a couple pics of that. It was SOOOOOOO loud! Lol
The guys started into "Everyone" and "Larger Than Life".
Then they did some other song(s), I can't remember...lol Then, they came to talk. Brian was first, I believe, and it got really loud. He looked around with this grin on his face like he couldn't believe he was there on stage in front of his friends and family. He actually said he was speechless. AWwwwww...:) He also said something about Tates Creek winning in football or basketball, I don't know, I blocked out that part. Grrrrrrrrr....Henry Clay's better!!! lol
AJ was next and saying something about all the gorgeous women in Kentucky. Ummm.DUH? no, I'm joking..lol
Then I think Kevin came out. I really expected him to cry or something because he has at every other concert, but he didn't. I'm glad I didn't bet that with Susan or Ashley or I'd be out of money..lol
Nick came out and it got even louder, apparently the girls behind us were big Nick fans because they kept yelling out, "WE LOVE YOU NICK!". Right in my ear, thank you. I kinda wanted to turn around and say, "He can't hear you!!" lol
Howie came out. Me and Ashley have gone to calling Howie, 'Jesus'. *lol* Did ya ever notice he kinda looks like it??
They sang, danced, and goofed around. Blah, blah, blah.
At one point, after the "Old Men" sketch, they came out in those umm..INTERESTING blue suits (i'm glad they were blue, but they were UGLY! lol) and were sitting on this box thing. These girls in the second or third row, coulda been first, can't remember, held up a sign that said something like, "Nick, Show us your truffle shuffle and we'll show you ours!" and then the other side said, "Help Save Our Seagrass". I saw that, and busted up laughing...lol Well Kevin and AJ saw it and started to point and laugh at them. Howie nudged Nick and pointed it out to him, Nick just kinda laughed about it. It was funny as hell..lol
But, what the hell is Nick's truffle shuffle??? I couldn't figure it out.....e-mail me if ya know..lol
So, we're all watching the little video when they go 'under the stage'. Before they went down Kevin got all up in the camera and was like, "Do you want to come inside? Do you??? Do you??"
I don't think the guys walked through the crowd, if they did I didn't notice..lol I think they went around the backstage area under Rupp Arena, that's the only logical thing we could come up with because no one saw them. lol So anyways, they pop up onto the small stage and start to sing. This is where it gets gooooooood :).
They're singing something right before 'Time' and the catwalk comes down. Brian is sitting on the edge, his feet swinging back and forth under him. Ashley is behind me with her zoom camera, trying to get a pic of all the guys. I don't know what I was doing but all of a sudden, Ashley grabs my arm and goes, "He waved at me!" Brian Littrell waved at Ashley. lol She was the only one really standing up and was on her tiptoes trying to zoom in, she said he turned around, looked straight at her and waved a little. ASHLEY! I hope that pic comes out! Lol
So then, the catwalk comes down and 'Time" begins. The guys start across. Howie leans over to look down and these girls start shooting silly string at him. He jumps back, then leans back over like a dork and gets shot at again. All the guys did this and kept trying to catch the little silly string things the girls kept throwing at them.
I looked over at AJ while he was hanging off trying to touch a girl's hand. Then, I don't know what happened, but I turned around to just look around at all the people in upper arena, and then look down at my camera.
Then, I looked up and Nick is standing there, RIGHT smack in front of me on the catwalk. Keep in mind, I'm like 15 maybe 20 feet from him. I swear this is SO true, and I know it sounds stupid! Lol But I swear to God, we made eye contact and he waved at me. So, I waved back. lol He smiled and went on down the catwalk to the stage. After he left, I started to scream to Ashley that he waved at me. lol
I think it was me anyways, cause ya know, no one else was like paying attention. But it was SO weird! I got chills when we made eye contact..lol I wish I had taken a picture but I was kinda frozen for a second. lol
At the end, of course, they sang "Shape of My Heart" and just like I knew they broke out the UK jerseys. Brian, I think, was Saul Smith's old number, #11. Ashley was excited about that..Saul's her man. lol Nick and Howie had on different jerseys but the same number, #32. Brian had on his Healthy Heart Club shirt and AJ had on a blue jersey with UK written on the front. I can't remember if he had a number or not..lol
Nick and Howie got into a huge silly string fight. By the end of it, Howie was silly string man. Nick was like rolling on the stage in laughter. Howie threw some teddy bears into the audience, and Brian signed some t-shirts and threw them out as well.
AJ and Kevin broke out the water gun and started to spray everyone in the front. AJ soaked some one in the front and started to laugh really hard, it was funny.
Then, they disappeared.
We practically got kicked out of the arena while waiting for Susan and everyone to get to us. Stupid old women ushers..they were mean. lol
Ashley pretended she knew where she was going and walked us through the Hyatt hotel which is connected to Rupp/Civic Center. We had to like push through people who were waiting at the elevators. On the way through, we saw the dude from Shaggy's band who is in the "Wasn't Me" video, I can't remember his name. lol I wanna say Rayvon for some reason..lol
We got into the car and went to waffle house, I think I made it home about 1 a.m. lol
I don't really know why all those girls were waiting at the elevators. I really, really hope they didn't think the guys were just gonna waltz through the hotel thinking no one would know they where 'them'. Oh well..lol
At one point, AJ was prancing around the stage in his ugle blue pants like a ballerina. It was entertaining.
I'm convinced Nick needs to be on Ritalin...he is so A.D.D.!
Kevin can actually really dance...when it's choerographed. (or however u spell it)
One of their dancers was HOT! He had long hair and had no shirt on for 'The Call'. He was YUMMY! He was ripped and had a tattoo on his stomach and chest. Me and Ashley were drooling. lol
The whole audience said Happy Birthday to Kevin's grandmother (it was her birthday the next day, the 22nd), and we said We Love You Perk! to the guys' stage manager who is apparently leaving them.
I used two freaken cameras at this concert...hopefully some will come out..lol
The paper said that the sound wasn't very good. I could hear just fine and they didn't SOUND bad but there was some technical difficulties. Kevin and AJ's mics got too close at one point and we all heard the feedback from it..lol But I think the dude from the paper is an O-Town fan or something and was forced to review BSB...lol The other review was nice! Lol
That was my concert experience. After it ended, and some of the ringing in my ears went down, I realized I really didn't want it to end. lol I called my friend Marie, who couldn't go, sometime during the concert and held my phone out so she could. Now, I wanna go again...Marie's goin' w/ me! lol
Hope you all enjoyed my 'experience'...hehe...I'm going to get my pics developed soon and (hopefully) I'll post them here if I can figure out how to put pics up....lol
