It was a warm, summer day in New York City. There was a slight breeze flowing through the city streets while all the people rushed to work, from work, to home or whatever. Up in the elegant Hyatt Hotel, in the middle of NYC, Taylor Jenkins was trying her hardest to ignore the persistent knocking on her door. She groaned and threw the covers off the bed before walking to the door and opening it. "What?"
Standing outside her door, doing the persistent knocking, was Brian Littrell, one-fifth of the Backstreet Boys. He grinned, "Just wanted to see if you were up."
"Well I was sleeping. What time is it anyways?"
"7:45. Everyone's meeting downstairs for breakfast..you coming?"
"Yeah..let me take a shower and get changed and I'll be there..will you order me something to eat."
Brian nodded, "Sure..any preferences?"
"Pancakes or something.."
"Okie doke. See ya down there."
Taylor nodded and closed the door. She grabbed some clothes and went into the bathroom to take a quick shower.
Taylor was 20 years old, around 5'8 with light brown hair and brown eyes. She live in Orlando, FL. but was touring with the BSB because one of her best friends was AJ McLean.
After her shower, she put on a pair of jeans and a Tommy shirt and pulled her tennis shoes on. She dried her hair the best she could and grabbed her room key before going downstairs. In the elevator she met up with one of the bodyguards, Ryan, and rode down with him.
She walked into the hotel restaurant and found the five guys(plus bodyguards) sitting around a large table back in the corner. She took a seat in between Brian and AJ.
"Morning Taylor..," They all greeted.
"Mornin' guys. Bri, did you order?"
"Yep..you got pancakes.," He replied.
"Cool thanks..AJ? Whats wrong?," Taylor asked turning towards him.
AJ was looking down, keeping his head in the menu. He barely looked up when Taylor sat down and just grunted a reply to what she asked.
Taylor's face clouded over in confusion and she looked away. Their food came and everyone drifted into silence as they ate.
They all wandered up back to their rooms. They would be leaving the next day for a well deserved break. AJ lagged behind the others with his head hung low. Taylor hung back and caught up with him, she knew something was wrong with him..he had been awfully quiet. "AJ? What's wrong?"
"Nothin'.," He replied.
"Is it with Carrie?," She asked, speaking about his current girlfriend.
He nodded slightly, "Yeah."
"What happened?"
He sighed as they got in the elevator. "She made this big deal last night on the phone how I was never there and she never saw me..and how she thought you were coming between her and me..I told her that wasn't true cause you've been my best friend since like junior high. She went off and told me that maybe we should break up."
"I'm sorry AJ.."
"Me too.."
"Soo..did you two break up?"
"Ya know? I'm not sure.."
Taylor smiled slightly, "AJ..you need to talk to her.."
"I know..I guess I'll do that today sometime.."
"Good..go call her now..I'm gonna go finish my book that I brought along.."
AJ nodded and went into his room. Taylor went into her room and finished packing some of the stuff she wouldn't need later. She found the romance novel she had been trying to read forever and crashed on her bed to read it. 'These things are soo corny..buut..good..,' She thought as she opened it up.
AJ had just put down the phone after talking with Carrie. She had broken up with him for some guy that lived down the street from her..and that would be there for her. He leaned forward and rubbed his face with his hands and sighed.
Someone knocked on his door and he groaned, "Go away!"
"AJ..open up.," Howie said from the other side.
"D..what do you want?"
"Sorry to bug ya..but umm..some guy downstairs called wanting to talk to you..he called up in my room..I thought you'd wanna know.."
"Thanks D.."
AJ sighed and got in the elevator. He walked into the lobby and stopped in his tracks. Standing at the front desk was Mark, Taylor's ex-boyfriend. "What the hell are you doing here?," AJ asked coolly.
"I wanted to see Taylor. I knew if I called her, she wouldn't see me..so I figured you would let me.."
"I'm not letting you near her."
"AJ..quit being overprotective and let me talk to my girlfriend. ," Mark said fimrly.
"I won't let you near her after you beat her up like that Mark..I suggest you leave now."
"I'm not leaving till I see Taylor."
"And why would I want to see you?," A voice said from behind AJ.
AJ turned around to see Taylor's angry face. Mark stepped forward, "Come on baby..I've missed you."
"Don't come near me and don't touch me. What the hell are you doing here?"
"I came to talk..I thought maybe we could work things out..," Mark said, trying to suck up.
Taylor laughed, "Yea right! Work things out my ass! After what you did? I don't think so..go back to Florida and leave me alone."
"I'm not leaving without you.."
Taylor crossed her arms in front of her and grinned, "Fine..then I'll leave..come on AJ."
Mark reached out and grabbed Taylor's arm roughly, spinning her around towards him. "Ow! Let me go!," She yelped.
AJ grabbed Taylor out of Mark's reach. He turned to Mark, "Don't you ever touch her again!"
"Screw you. Stay out of Taylor's and I's business."
"AJ..don't..," Taylor said pulling on his arm.
AJ got out of her grasp and before she knew what was happening, AJ punched Mark right in the face. In a second, they were on the floor of the lobby fighting. Lonnie, head bodyguard, pulled AJ off Mark and then escorted Mark out of the hotel. "AJ..how could you stoop so low?," Taylor asked as she helped AJ clean up his face.
"I wasn't going to let him near you.," He growled.
"AJ..I wasn't going to let him near me either!"
"I just wanted to protect you."
"I know..thats why you're my friend..but damn, you gotta hell of a right hook!," She exclaimed.
AJ laughed, "I guess so..I didn't mean to fight him.."
"I know.."
"I didn't want him to hurt you again.."
"I know that too.," She said smiling.
"I was just so frustrated.."
"How come?"
"Carrie broke up with me..she got some other guy.."
"Oh I'm sorry AJ."
"Me too..I really loved her."
"I know you did..she just wasn't 'the one'.," Taylor said washing her hands.
"I guess not.."
Later on that night, everyone was heading out to a club. AJ sat in the booth, watching Taylor and Kevin. 'Maybe Carrie wasn't 'the one'..but who is?, AJ wondered as he took a drink.
