Jordan turned around as Nick entered the kitchen. He seemed to be uncomfortable and asked, "Uhh..do you have anything to drink?"
"Umm..yeah..we have Coke, Diet Coke and Mountain Dew," She said.
"I'll take a Mountain Dew."
"Okay.," She said reaching into the fridge and grabbing a can of Mountain Dew. She handed it to him and sat down at the bar. He did also and opened the can. "So..uhh..how come I haven't seen you around before?," He asked after a moment of silence.
She shrugged, "I just came down here about two months ago..and I don't really know anyone so I just keep to myself."
He smiled, "I understand..it is hard to make new friends..where'd you come from?"
"Nevada..I lived there with my mom."
"Ohh..do you like it here?," He asked.
Jordan shrugged again, "Its alright..I'm glad we live near the beach.."
"I love the beach..its so relaxing..," He said sighing.
She smiled at him, "Yeah..It is..soo..what is there to do around here?"
"I dunno..I'm not around that much..and I don't have that many friends.."
"Why not?"
He suddenly seemed a lot more uncomfortable and started to fidget. "Well..uhh...I..uhh..I'm just busy.."
Jordan started to laugh, "You know, I do know who you are..I just wanted to see if you'd admit it to me.."
Nick relaxed and smiled, "Well..I didn't want you to like freak out on me or something..and I just want to have a nice time while I'm actually home.."
"I understand..," She said.
"Thanks for not freaking.."
"No problem..so is that why you don't have that much time to play basketball?"
"Yeah..We're always on tour or something and I just can't find the free time to play.."
"I haven't played in awhile..," She said truthfully.
"Well..I'm not busy tomorrow..how about we go down to the park and play?"
"Alright..you sure you don't mind?"
"Nope..In fact, I'm interested in seeing how good you are..your dad said that you were the star of your school in Nevada.."
Jordan looked down at the countertop and blushed, "I guess so.."
"Don't be shy about it..If I had alot of basketball skills then I'd be estatic about it.."
"I just don't like people bragging about me..Do you like it when people talk about you?"
"If its in a good way!"
Jordan laughed, "Well..yeah.."
Nick looked up as his mom called his name. "Nick! We have to get going!"
"Alright, I'll be right there!," He called back.
Nick stood up and smiled at Jordan. "So, I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Yep..," She nodded.
"Alright..see ya Jordan." After the Carters' left, Jordan went up to her room and pulled out a leather bound book from underneath her bed. She opened the book and found and empty page. This was her journal, she didn't write in it every day, but whenever she felt like she needed to. And now she needed too. After finding a pencil she sat down to write.
Dear Journal-thingie, Today actually turned out to be a good day. For the first time in a long time I feel like I belong here. Today, dad and Linda had our neighbors, the Carters' over. They're really nice. And they're son, Nick, is a real hottie! He's 18 and I knew I knew him from somewhere..he's one of those guys from that group called the Backstreet Boys or something like that..He's really nice too..we're supposed to go play basketball tomorrow..Watch me make a fool out of myself! :) I probably will..but oh well! I'll try to write tomorrow..Later! Jordan
