Chapter 21

Three Months Later

AJ, Taylor, and the boys came back from Italy all relaxed and stuff..well at least Taylor and AJ did. They went back to the normal routines of their lives and everything was happy.

Taylor had woken up that morning feeling cold, then hot, then back to cold. She took her temperature and found she had a fever. AJ sat on the edge of the bed, "Are you sure you'll be okay?"

Taylor nodded, "Yeah..its just a cold. Take the boys to Nick's..they haven't seen him in a while..and I know you need to get some stuff done.."

"I feel bad leaving you here all alone though baby."

She smiled weakly, "I'll sit up here in the nice warm bed and watch my soap operas and old movies.."

"Why don't you come? You can sit outside and maybe warm up some?"

"AJ..I don't want you or the boys or the guys to catch whatever I have..just take them and go..I'll probably just sleep.."

He looked a little skeptical but nodded, "Okay..but I'll be calling every hour.."

"Fine..go!"

"I'm going.."

"I'll see you all when you get back."

"Alrighty."

AJ sat on the edge of Nick's pool, holding Christopher who was struggling to get down. Nick had Nicholas in his little floatie thingie and swimming him around the pool. "Do you guys think Taylor's okay?," AJ asked for about the billionth time.

The four guys rolled their eyes. Jayde, who was sitting in a lounge chair, looked up, "AJ, I'm sure she's fine. She just wanted you and the boys to have a good time, not worry about her. Plus, you don't want to get whatever she has."

"Plus AJ, you've called her at least twice and wasn't she okay then?," Kevin asked.

AJ sighed, "Yes..but..still.."

Brian grinned, "You can't argue with us bro..it ain't gonna work."

AJ carried the sleeping twins into the house later that evening. He set the bag full of swimming stuff and other things by the door and carried the two up the stairs and into their room. After putting them to bed, he went to check on Taylor.

"Hey, you up?"

She nodded, "Yeah..how was it at Nick's?"

"It was fun..I wish you could of come.."

She smiled, "Maybe next time...they asleep?"

He nodded, "Yep..out like lights by the time we hit the highway."

"Good.," She said shifting her position before groaning in pain.

"You okay?"

She nodded, "Yeah..my back just hurts.."

"Sit up and I'll give you a massage."

"Okay."

He began to rub her lower back as she instructed and began telling her what all went on at Nick's. "And then Brian got the bright idea to throw Jane in the pool...needless to say, she was pissed.."

Taylor smiled and winced in pain again, "Thats nice.."

"Does it still hurt?"

"Yeah..its a real sharp pain.."

"Where at?"

She pointed below where he was massaging her. "Isn't that where your kidneys or whatever are?"

She shrugged, "I don't know..I think I'm just gonna go to sleep..I'm sure I'll be fine in the morning.."

"You sure?"

She nodded, "Yeah.."

He kissed her forehead, "Okay..I'm gonna head to the basement and try to write some.."

"K."

He turned out the light and closed the door behind him before walking downstairs towards the basement.

Sometime near midnight, AJ was still writing furiously. Once he got going with his writing, he couldn't stop. He heard the basement door open but didn't look up. "AJ?," Came Taylor's strained voice.

"Hmm?"

"I think somethings wrong.."

He looked up then, "What?"

"The pain's not going away and I can't sleep..something's wrong.."

He got up and walked over to her, she had gotten considerably pale. He felt her forehead, she was burning up. "How do you feel?"

"Cold.," She said wrapping her arms around her.

"What hurts besides your back?"

"Its just shooting straight up my back..nothing else really hurts..I'm cold, then hot, and the pain.."

"We're going to the hospital then..," He said.

She grabbed hold of the doorframe as she got lightheaded, he picked her up and carried her up to their room. "Stay there, I'm calling my mom.."

"Your mom?"

"To stay with the boys.."

"oh.."

After calling his mom, he helped Taylor get dressed. Denise showed up shortly and said to call her whenever they found out something.

AJ helped Taylor into the car and then drove towards the hospital.

AJ sat in the waiting room, waiting for any news on Taylor. He had called his mom with no news at least twice and was starting to get kinda worried.

The doors swung open and a pretty young male doctor walked out, "Mr. Mclean?"

AJ looked up, "Yes?"

"We figured out what was wrong with your wife.."

"What is it?"

"Well, all it is is a kidney infection, nothing too serious. I'd like to keep her here overnight, just for observation. She should be able to go home sometime in the afternoon."

"So, she'll be okay?"

He nodded, "Yes. I'll give her some medication. All she really needs is some rest."

"Umm..where is she?"

"Up in room 19B."

"Thank you doctor."

"You're welcome."

The doctor walked back into the swinging doors. AJ sighed and pulled out his cell phone. He filled his mom in on what happened and then went up to Taylor's room.
