AJ's jaw dropped open and his heart beat seemed to stop for a split second. He looked over at Taylor who looked like she was about to start crying. Her? Pregnant? Him? A father? No way..this wasn't happening..sure, he wanted kids, but he wasn't sure if he wanted them this soon. He had always dreamt of having kids with Taylor, but this soon? "Are..are..you sure?"
"Why do you think I went to the doctor AJ?"
"This..this is..just..wow.."
"I know..I wasn't expecting this..either.."
"I mean..dude..me? A father? We've only been married four months! How'd this happen?!"
Taylor smiled ruefully, "AJ..I think you know how it happened.."
He shook his head, "Duh..but..this..this..is..whoa..I mean..nine months from like now or so, we're going to have a baby.."
"You're not..mad? Or upset?"
"Hell no baby!"
She laughed as he jumped off the couch and started talking to himself more than to her. "We're going to have to buy baby stuff..and and..get a room ready..holy..the guys'll help out of course...and my mom will be happy..but.."
"AJ..calm down!"
He sat back down and kissed her, "I can't believe this!"
"Me neither.."
"You want this?"
"The more I think about it..the more I want this..do you?"
"I always dreamt of having a little AJ running around.," He grinned.
"What if its a girl?"
"A little female version of me.."
"That'd be scary."
"So..thats why you were sorta weirded out earlier?"
"Yeah..I didn't know how to tell you! And finally, I just decided to come down and tell you..I figured the worst you could do is leave.."
He ran his hand through her hair, "Baby, I wouldn't leave you. I mean, we said we both wanted kids..its just a little earlier than we expected.."
She nodded, "Yep.."
"How far along are you?"
"About two months.."
"Cool.."
"Cool?"
"Yep.," He said with a smile.
She sighed, "I'm glad I told you then.."
"I'm glad you told me too..," He said before kissing her again.
"You have to tell the guys..and your mom.."
"I know..we'll tell them all soon..."
She nodded, "Okay...wait!"
"What?"
"You're going on tour in a month!"
"So?"
"I have to go through..this..alone?"
"Oh baby..not completely..my mom will be happy to help..as will Nick's mom and everyone else's mom I'm sure!"
She laughed, "I guess..but its not the same as you being here with me.."
"Well..lets see..you're about two months now..I'll be gone in a month, which will make you about three months..you'll be about 6 months by the time I come home..then we can spend the rest of the time getting ready for AJ jr. to arrive.."
"AJ jr?"
He laughed, "Well..I don't want to call it an 'it'!"
"You just did!"
He laughed again, "Whatever...wow..I don't think I've ever been this excited..."
"So..you're happy?"
"Yep."
"Me too.."
"Good..I love you Taylor."
"I love you too AJ."
A couple weeks passed and soon it was a day before the guys would leave for a three month tour of the U.S. Taylor had to work so she couldn't get off to see AJ, which he thought was fine. They had told Denise about the pregnancy and she was estatic about it, she agreed to let them tell the guys about it. The guys were over for a cookout at AJ and Taylor's that night.
So far, Taylor wasn't showing much. AJ would ask her every second if she was feeling alright and if she needed anything, she was getting annoyed with it but thought it was cute nonetheless. Taylor sat oin one of the lounge chairs nervously folding her hands and unfolding them. She had no idea how the guys would react..she figured they'd be happy but that little voice in the back of her head kept telling her they'd throw AJ out of the group or tell them they were making a mistake. She smiled up at Nick as he sat down next to her. "You okay?"
She nodded, "I'm fine."
"Okay..you seem nervous about something.."
"Oh no..I'm fine..really.."
"Okay..want a hamburger or something?"
"No thanks..you go on though.."
He nodded and got up and walked over to the grill. Taylor let out a breath and got up to go inside. AJ was filling a glass with coke and looked up as the backdoor slid open. "Hey baby..," He said.
"Hi.."
"What's wrong?"
"I..I'm just nervous about telling them..do you think they'll be happy?"
"I'm positive they will be..when are the girls getting here?"
Just then, the doorbell rang. Taylor laughed, "That'd be them."
AJ smiled and went outside. Taylor let Alicia, Jane, and Marie in. They joined everyone in the backyard and ate dinner.
After dinner AJ practically dragged Taylor up in front of them all. "Okay..so I know we're leaving tomorrow..but me and Taylor couldn't keep this thing a secret anymore.."
Nick raised his hand like he was in school. "What Nick?," AJ asked.
"Can I guess?"
"If you want."
"K..is it bigger than a breadbox?"
Everyone laughed. "Yeah Nick..it is.."
"Is it another dog?"
"No..just let me tell you all!"
"Fine.."
"Well...umm..I...I...damn.."
Taylor patted his shoulder. "I'll do it..since it has mostly to do with me.."
"You guys are getting a divorce!"
"Nick, shut up!"
"Sorry..geez!"
She laughed, "Sorry..no, we're not getting divorced..and..umm..well..what it is..is..umm.."
"She's pregnant!," AJ exclaimed suddenly.
Taylor looked at him like 'you dork' and he smiled sheepishly.
Everyone was silent for about a nano-second when Nick exclaimed, "It is bigger than a breadbox!"
They all got up and congradulated them and hugged them. Nick walked to Taylor, "So, thats why you were nervous earlier?"
"Yeah..I was afraid you guys would be mad!"
"Mad? Never! We need baby Backstreets!," He smiled before hugging her.
"Thank you Nick.," She whispered in his ear.
"Not a prob. How far along?"
"About three months.."
"Awww! How cute!," Brian exclaimed before hugging her.
She laughed as the hugs continued. Alicia, Marie, and Jane alll crowded around her and squealed at the same time. "I can't believe you guys are having a baby!," Alicia exclaimed hugging her.
"You think I can!"
"This is so great Taylor. Congrats.," Jane said also hugging her.
"Thanks Jane."
Marie hugged her last, "We're so going to have to go buy baby stuff.."
"I know..thanks you guys..I was so afraid everyone would be mad at us or something!"
"Never..this is such a good thing!"
The get together lasted till about midnight when everyone left. AJ followed Taylor up the stairs to their bedroom. As they laid in bed, he put his hand on her stomach. "I still can't believe there's a person growing inside of you.."
"Its sort of..odd..ya know?"
"Yeah..I wish I didn't have to leave you tomorrow.."
"Least you'll be in the U.S. And Denise is around as well as the girls.."
"I know..but I want to go to the doctor with you and all that.."
"Its not all that exciting.."
"Its our first child Taylor, of course its exciting.."
She smiled into the darkness, "I know..but its only for three months and then you're done...you can come back and we'll have the baby.."
"Yep..and he or she will have four uncles to deal with.."
"Six.."
"Huh?"
"My bros.."
"Oh yeah..not to mention Alicia, Marie, and Jane."
"Yep..I can't wait AJ.."
"Me neither baby..goodnight.."
"Night.," She replied leaning over and kissing him before falling asleep.
