A phone rang somewhere in Kevin Richardon's house as soon as he unlocked the door. He dropped his duffle bags and suitcases and ran for the nearest phone, in the kitchen. "Hello?," He said breathlessly.
"Kevin?," His mom, Ann, said.
"Mom? Whats wrong?"
"Oh its so awful dear..," She said almost in tears.
"Mom? What is it? Is it something with Tim or Jerald?"
"No..you remember the McKenzie's?"
"Yea..they lived next door.."
"There was a horrible accident..Mary and John both died.."
"What about their daughter..Isabel?"
"She was at home..I just got the call a few minutes ago. I sent Tim over there to make sure she was okay.."
"What'll happen to her?"
"I don't know..I..I thought I'd better tell you though.."
"Yea..thanks mom. Let me know..when the funeral is and I'll fly up..okay?"
"Okay..I'll let you know in a day or so. Here comes Tim with Isabel now..I'll let you go.."
"K. Bye mom."
Kevin sat the phone down in disbelief and shock..the McKenzie's were old family friends..now..they were gone. But what would happen to fifteen year old Isabel?
Kevin was watching a football game on television when the phone rang. "Hello?"
"Hi Kevin..," Ann said breathlessly.
"Hey mom..whats up?"
"Isabel is so out of control.."
"What's happened now?"
"She's..just being..sixteen I guess. But..she's out of control Kevin. She won't listen to me, she stays out till odd hours of the night and is almost failing school. I don't know what to do.."
Kevin sighed, ever since Ann had taken custody of Isabel, she had been out there pretty much. Isabel was rebelling..and wouldn't listen to anyone. "Mom..what do you want me to do?"
"Nothing..I just..need someone sane to talk to right now.."
Kevin laughed softly, "Look..she's a teenager mom..wasn't I like this at sixteen?"
"Not this bad. I know she still misses her parents but..still.."
"I know..Look, how about I take her for awhile. She hasn't met Howie, AJ, or Nick yet. Who knows, her and Nick may actually get along..they're about the same age.."
"Nick's eighteen dear.."
"And? Two years. Isabel's almost seventeen. Tell her to pack her things and be at the airport..a ticket will be waiting. I'll be at the airport waiting for her.."
Ann sighed, "Thank you Kevin."
"No prob. mom. I love you."
"Love you too. I'll let you go now."
"Okay..bye mom."
Kevin put down the phone..he hoped he was doing the right thing.
