PRIMAL DUTY
I see that far away look
in her eye.
And for what seems
like the very first time
something's bothering
my child
and now
she's hiding inside.
Her pain engulfs me
she
my main reason
for existing
and the bill is due
to take this pain.
Stand beside her
be there for her.
A parents pride
yet their curse as well.
One we gladly accept.
That time comes.
Judgement day arrives.
Then
like a lioness
with her young
we take
a protective stance
our natural purpose
on earth.
