APPRECIATION

Of that tree that fell
so deep in the wood.
T'was an argument
I never understood.
Did it make a sound?
Of course it did!
I could see that
even as a kid.
But when I found you
it occurred to me
the question's not sound
but appreciation, you see.
Before you
I was like
A wine untasted
a beauty unbeheld
a journey not taken
a gentle breeze not felt.
A dance not danced
a fruit gone rotten
a lesson not learnt
a memory forgotten.
A song unsung
a truth not believed
a chance not taken
a concept not perceived.
Now I've a life to live
a love to give.
I can grow and grow
but can't you see?
Without the "You"
am I really "Me"?
