Welcome to Sister Act!!!

The friendly little shop where you can find anything,

"From the Unique-To the Antique."

We're located across from the "Cathedral of the Plains" in Victoria, Kansas, 8 miles east of Hays, just off Interstate 70.

Our shop is located in a native limestone building which was built in 1896, some 8 years before the actual beginning of the quarring of stone for the Cathedral. Our building is listed with the Kansas State Historical Society. It is our understanding that this building was one of the first native limestone buildings to have been built in this area. The Volga Germans used this to gain experience and expertise for the much larger task of building the Cathedral. After its completion, it became a general store. Behind the store was an under ground ice house and a large two story barn was built which could stable up to twenty horses. While the church was being built, from 1908 to 1911, this building was used as an eating hall for the Cathedral workers. Since the completion of the church, this building has been a General Store or a private residence, or both. We presently use the back of the building as our residence. In addition to the shop in the front of the building, we have a Patio Shop located around back through the flower garden.

If you have never taken the time to stop by the Cathedral, we would highly recommend that you do so on your next trip down Interstate 70. The building of the Cathedral was truely a marvelous endeavor. The size of this church, along with the breath taking beauty on the inside, is well worth your trip.

We hope while you're there you'll stop by and say hello at Sister Act. Have a soda or ice cream, or just browse around. We think you'll find the friendly Kansas atmosphere, and the truely old fashion shopping experience, quite unique.
