Aiming is a very important part of pool. The more accuracy you have the better your chances for winning are. So let me take you through the steps to find out how accurate you need to be to make different shots.
Lets say we have the trusty cue and seven balls back on the table. We can draw a line through their centers (d). The cue ball is in the bottom left corner, the seven ball in the top right corner.

Now we can set up some guidelines to help us get an equation. we can draw two radii from the centers of both balls that form lines with the others. (see below)

To help us, we can extend the radii lines from the seven ball so they extend beyond the edge of the ball. We can also make lines parallel to the tangent lines that touch the sides of both balls.
