One of pool's most popular games is the game of 8-ball. The object of 8-ball is to shoot all the balls of your type into the pockets before your opponent does. The only ball you do not shoot in is the 8 ball. You can only shoot the 8 ball into the pockets after all other balls in your group have been pocketed. This is how you win the game; accordingly, if you accidentally pocket the eight ball you lose the game.
