Summary: Continuation of “Road Trip Part 2”…
Spoilers: None, unless you haven’t read “Road Trip Part 2”, season 4, or the season 3 finale “Road Trip”.
Disclaimer: We do not own Alex Krycek, Dana Scully, John Doggett, Marita Covarrubias, Walter Skinner, Fox Mulder, or Monica Reyes. They belong to Chris Carter, Ten-Thirteen Productions, and 20th Century FOX Broadcasting.
Previously on "Fox & Rat"... the Gang came back to life and they went along the rest of their trip to Colorado Springs. Krycek, having not been "intimate" with anyone for what feels like a year or more, annoyed/angered Doggett so much that he made them end their trip early, and they began to head home.
Later on the way back, Krycek got himself punched out by a short-tempered Doggett, in the middle of nowhere, after saying the phrase "I'm a man" one too many times! Feeling bad for what he had done, Doggett (in an act of no rational thinking), makes Scully get out of the van to make sure Krycek is ok. He then proceeded to drive away without them. Thus begins the second part of our tale...
FADE IN:
EXT. SIDE OF ROAD
Krycek is still knocked out. Scully seems to have been trying to wake Krycek up. We do, however, notice that a big black bruise has formed around his eye.
Thunder rolls… a little too close. Scully gets scared. She turns to Krycek who is laying on the ground.
She lightly slaps his face.
SCULLY The wind picks up.
Krycek? Wake up…
SCULLY
(slaps him a bit harder)
Wake up! Krycek… I’m
scared… wake up you bastard.Her tone isn’t snotty. She is truly scared and worried for the both of them.
SCULLY It starts to sprinkle. Lightening flashes and thunder cracks. Krycek’s eyes flutter open.
(scared)
Alex Krycek… If you don’t
wake up I’m gonna hurt you…
SCULLY Krycek sits up fast. He grabs his forehead… head rush.
A storm is coming, and they left us.
KRYCEK Scully helps Krycek to his feet and she checks his eye.
Where are they?
SCULLY We await a come on by Krycek, however it doesn’t come. Instead, Krycek looks around, not sure which way they should go. It’s rather cold outside too, good thing he’s wearing his leather jacket.
I don’t think we should be
worried about where they are.
John drove off a little over an
hour ago, a storm is coming
and we need to find shelter.
He looks at Scully and sees that Doggett left her there dressed in jeans and a t-shirt.
It starts pouring. Scully, again, is about to cry. What a horrible Super Buddy outing. Krycek goes back to Scully and takes off his jacket and puts it on her. He bends over and looks her in the eye.
KRYCEK He takes her hand and leads her into the forest. There’s a loud booming thunder and Scully wraps Krycek’s arm over her shoulder.
(soft)
Come on, Dana. Maybe we can
find some shelter in the forest.
TIME CUT TO:
The storm is bad, terrible winds, Scully and Krycek are now walking/stumbling through the forest. Cuddled up to each other. Krycek wipes water off his face and sees a silhouette of a small cabin a few feet away.
KRYCEK Scully looks up from the ground, water dripping off her hair. They look at each other and run to it.
(exhausted)
Look.
CUT TO:
INT. CABIN
They open the door, the place is ok in a sad kind of way. Their eyes adjust to the dark. In the corner, water drips in from a hole in the ceiling. Some old blankets are piled on the ground, the ones on the bottom are moldy but in between , they are ok. Krycek takes off his shirt.
SCULLY Krycek looks at her as he picks up a blanket.
(not amused)
Alex… you better not
be trying anything…
KRYCEK He tosses Scully a blanket, suggesting to her to do the same. She looks at the blanket and brushes off some dead leaves.
I’m drying off. In this cold
you don’t want to be
wearing wet clothes.
KRYCEK She takes off his leather jacket and hands it to him, he turns around as she takes off her clothes and dries herself off with the blanket, then wraps it around herself. Krycek is laying down blankets into some kind of “bed”.
This reminds me of cub scouts.SCULLY
Can you turn around please.
SCULLY He faces her and doesn’t even smirk, seeing she’s only wearing a blanket. She walks over and lies her clothes flat so they can dry.
(letting him know it’s ok)
Ok.
KRYCEK Scully sits down on the makeshift bed.
You think it’d be smart to
burn the moldy blankets for heat?
SCULLY Krycek looks down at her and then sits.
No, there are too many dead
leaves in here… we’d probably
burn the place and our clothes.
SCULLY
Alex! Don’t! You’re pants are wet!Krycek quickly stands back up.
KRYCEK
Oh!He takes his jeans off, we see he’s wearing Donald Duck boxers, he wasn’t expecting to be seen like this around anyone. Scully doesn’t even smirk at him. He sits back down and pulls one of the thicker blankets over the both of them.
KRYCEK They lie there in silence for a few minutes, neither one of them can sleep. We hear Scully shivering, her teeth shattering. Krycek turns over and cuddles up next to her, wrapping his arm around her.
Good night, Dana.
KRYCEK Scully doesn’t say anything.
(whispering in her ear)
I’m not trying anything…
plus it’s warmer this way.
KRYCEK Scully turns over to face him, they don’t seem uncomfortable at all being this close and hardly wearing anything.
(whispering)
This reminds me of that one
time in high school…SCULLY
… Senior trip?KRYCEK
Yeah…
SCULLY
I thought we promised never to
talk about that again.KRYCEK
(soft/serious)
No one else is here.They stare into each other’s eyes. A strand of hair falls into Scully’s eyes, Krycek reaches over and brushes it away as he does, she leans in and kisses him. He doesn’t resist her, instead he pulls her toward him.
But wait! What is missing?! Something very important is missing here!
Krycek sits up and addresses you, the reader.
KRYCEK Scully sits up and helps him with this public service announcement.
As you may know, having sex
without using protection is
not a smart thing to do.
SCULLY Krycek pulls out a bright orange condom and smiles at the camera with a twinkle in his eye.
That's right Alex. Though at
times you do do stupid things,
you aren't stupid enough to not
use a condom.KRYCEK
Yes. I do have a brain.
You see, if you have sexual
intercourse without using
protection, you may end up with
an unwanted pregnancy or an STD.SCULLY
That stands for Sexually
Transmitted Disease. Something
that you don't want to deal with.
KRYCEK There's an awkward moment between Scully and Krycek, she looks at him weird.
So be cool like Dana
and I, and protect the
ones you love.
SCULLY Scully leans over and kisses Krycek on the lips and he lowers her to the ground. They continue about their business and it’s probably a good thing we can’t see what’s going on under the blankets, but at least we know they are protected.
Alex... you love me?KRYCEK
Well, technically, no.
But for the purpose of our
public service announcement.
Yes. I love you Dana Scully.SCULLY
Remember folks, if you are going
to have sex, do it with someone
you love...
CUT TO:
INT. STAY N’ SAVE MOTOR INN – 10PM
The power is out. Doggett sits alone on one of the two queen size beds. Skinner is on the other. Mulder is sitting on the floor. We hear a shower running and Marita bawling her eyes out. She’s quite loud.
Doggett is feeling really, really, really bad about what he did. He hasn’t said much since they got settled in. Marita howls, and then Mulder sniffles and starts to cry too.
SKINNER Mulder shakes his head “no”.
Be strong man…
MULDER
It’s all his fault!He looks over at Doggett.
MULDER The shower turns off. They all stop talking about it, they don’t want to further upset Marita. A minute later she comes out and stands there glaring at Doggett.
(crying)
He left my buddies somewhere
to die! That escaped murderer
we heard about on the radio
could have found them and
killed them by now!SKINNER
It’s Krycek, I don’t think
he’d let that happen.MULDER
(crying)
He didn’t bring his gun!DOGGETT
I’m sure they found someway
to get to a hotel.
MARITA
(extremely upset)
I hate you!Skinner stands up and puts his arm around her should and leads her to the bed he was on. Once she is under the covers, he gets in and she rests her head on his chest. She continues to cry.
Doggett gets up and puts on his sweatpants and gets into bed. Mulder is already on the other side, facing away from Doggett. Mulder is mad too.
DOGGETT No one answers him. We only hear Marita sniffle. It’s gonna be a long night.
I’m gonna get us up at
six, and we’ll go back
to find Dana and Krycek.
TIME CUT TO:
INT. CABIN - MIDNIGHT
It’s just sprinkling outside now. We’re on a high angle above Scully and Krycek. He’s laying on top of her, the blankets are a mess. He lets out a low pleasurable groan and rolls onto his back. They both look exhausted yet very satisfied.
SCULLY
(panting)
Was that four times or five?KRYCEK
I don’t know but it’s good
to do that again after
being dead for a year!Krycek smiles at her and holds up five fingers, he hasn’t caught his breath just yet. Scully curls up next to him and shuts her eyes.
KRYCEK
(proud/eyes shut)
I’m da man!They lie there, attempting to fall asleep for the night. After a few moments, Krycek snaps over one eye and looks down at Scully.
KRYCEK Scully slowly opens her eyes and moans out a response. Krycek starts to kiss her again. She isn’t into it this time around.
(needy/not obvious)
Dana…?
SCULLY
(trying to push him off)
Alex…Krycek doesn’t listen, he’s a man. He starts kissing her neck. Scully rolls her eyes. Then, something catches her eye… a silhouette of a man standing in the doorway!
SCULLY He’s very much involved in what he’s trying to do. Since she raised her voice he thinks she’s getting back into it.
(louder/scared)
Alex!
KRYCEK The man at the door quietly, yet quickly, makes his way to them. Taking a Swiss Army knife out and placing it in hard enough on Krycek’s neck for him to realize what’s going on.
Gee… I haven’t even started
the good moves… yet…
MAN He’s looking directly at Scully and speaking to Krycek. Krycek stops what he is doing, now understanding the intensity in Scully’s voice. He rolls over, holding his hands up.
(rough voice)
Turn around slowly, and
you won’t get hurt.
KRYCEK The man glares at the both of them. Scully pulls the blankets up over her nose. Why does Krycek have to challenge scary guys like this?
(very serious)
I don’t think you know who I am.
MAN
(to Krycek)
If you don’t shut the hell up,
you both’ll loose your
lives before the sunrise.KRYCEK
Like I said. I don’t think
you know who I am.SCULLY
(inspired?)
He’s right, you don’t know who you’re
dealing with… I’m a federal agent.
You kill us, you’ll have the FBI on you’re a-KRYCEK
-Scully, shut it.The man makes his way behind Scully and pulls her up to a sitting position and violently puts the knife to her neck, she gives Krycek the “do-something-you-idiot” look.
MAN
Federal agent? I don’t see no
badge… (smirks)… maybe
I should frisk you.The man places his other hand elsewhere. Krycek has had enough. He stands up holding a blanket around his waist.
KRYCEK
I’m Alexander Sergeiovich Krycek the II Jr.The man backs away from Scully, he’s scared now. She looks at Krycek confused. She mouths off “the second junior?” to him.
MAN The man bolts out of the cabin in a mad dash.
Dude, look, I didn’t know it was you.
I would never purposely intrude on
you like that… please forgive me!
Krycek looks down at Scully, she looks very thankful that Krycek has this kind of reputation. Krycek offers her his hand and helps her to her feet. She looks at him in awe. (yes, she’s holding a blanket around her.)
KRYCEK
(a la: Back To The Future)
Are you ok?Scully looks at him with tears in her eyes and hugs him.
KRYCEK CUT TO:
(stroking her hair)
Everything’s gonna be alright…
INT. VAN – NEXT DAY – 7AM
Doggett is once again driving. They have back-tracked. Marita is sitting in the passenger seat. Her eyes are glued to the side of the road and into the forest. Mulder is pouting in the middle of the van. Skinner is silently looking out the windows.
MARITA She glares at him.
We have to find them.DOGGETT
Don’t worry, we will.MARITA
Oh shut up! You’re the
reason we’re even doing this!
SKINNER Doggett pulls over and stops the van. They all get out.
(excited)
I think this is the spot!MULDER
How do you know? It all
looks the same to me!
Now is the time when someone thinks about what they forgot back in Colorado Springs.
MULDER Skinner nods his head. He checks the van for the dog. He’s nowhere to be seen.
Hey Skinner, get Buddy out
so he can smell them out.
SKINNER Mulder looks in the van. He looks under chip bags, seats, everything. No dog.
Buddy’s not here.MULDER
What do you mean?SKINNER
Check for yourself.
MULDER
(freaked)
Oh gawd! He’s gone!Meanwhile, away from the boys, we hear Marita yell something. They all run over to her.
MARITA The boys hunch over the print and examine it.
Is that his shoe print?
MULDER
Sure looks like it.DOGGETT
Check it out. The prints
go into the forest.MULDER
It’s amazing… it rained and
the print is still here. This
means we’ll find them.Mulder gets down on his hands and knees and sniffs the shoe print and starts crawling. Marita follows him, eager to see if he finds anything that could lead them to Scully and Krycek. Doggett and Skinner stay behind, wondering what they are thinking.
DOGGETT They start walking into the forest, a long distance away from Marita and Mulder.
You know, when they find nothing, I’m
not only going to be hated for kicking
them out of the van, but also for loosing the dog.SKINNER
Dog’s name is Buddy.DOGGETT
Actually, I was thinking Sergeant
would be more fitting for him.
SKINNER CUT TO:
(re: Sergeant as a name)
What do you base that?DOGGETT
I use to be in the Marines.SKINNER
Yeah, so did I.
EXT. CABIN – CONTINUOUS
Mulder and Marita have found the cabin Scully and Krycek stayed at the night before. They enter. The cabin is a mess from the night. Blankets everywhere. Scully and Krycek didn’t clean up after themselves.
MULDER
I have a feeling they were here…DOGGETT (O.S.)
Feelings don’t find people.Marita is standing with her back to them. She’s looking at something. She turns around, holding Krycek Donald Duck boxers, a tear is in her eye.
MARITA They just kind of look at her, Mulder squints his eyes.
It’s his boxers…
MULDER
Those look like my Donald Duck boxers.Mulder takes the boxers out of Marita’s hands and look at them closely.
MULDER
Nope. Krycek sat on a plate
of ketchup once. This pair is
stained. (beat) I never stain
my boxers like that.He gives the boxers back to Marita.
SKINNER
Ok. They were here and now
we’re looking for Krycek
running around in commando.MULDER
(feeling sorry for Scully)
Poor, poor, Scully…Off their looks…
CUT TO:
ANGLE – SUN
bright in the sky. We are:
EXT. NON-BUSY HIGHWAY – 11AM
Scully and Krycek are walking in the middle of the road, whistling “Whistle While You Work”, holding hands while swinging their arms. They are very dirty looking and look happy.
SCULLY Suddenly they both start skipping hand-in-hand, laughing and having a great time. They haven’t notice yet, but we will take notice that they are skipping back towards the Colorado Rockies.
(stops whistling)
You know, if we hadn’t been
dead, I never would have
appreciated John leaving
us out here in nature.KRYCEK
(happy)
And I never would have
appreciated the pain of a black eye.
TIME CUT:
EXT. CABIN AREA – 3PM
Mulder and Marita are calling out for Scully and Krycek. Skinner and Doggett are standing by the van, keeping an eye on them. This is how far this search has gone. Doggett starts to cough rather loudly, trying to cover up his stomach growling. Skinner looks at him.
DOGGETT Skinner walks off.
(re: Skinner’s look)
What? I’m hungry… we’ve
been here for eight hours.SKINNER
You’re right… I’ll go get
them. You start the van.
SKINNER
(yelling)
Marita! Mulder! Come on, they have
an eight hour lead on where ever they
are going. We’re gonna grab something
to eat and head back to D.C. We’ll
probably pass them on the way.Marita and Mulder come running up to him. Marita hugs him and looks at him adoringly.
MARITA
(hopeful)
You really think so Walter?SKINNER
I know so.They head back to the van. Mulder is sitting up front with Doggett showing him something on his arm. Skinner opens the side door.
MULDER TIME CUT:
I think it’s poison ivy.
What should I do?DOGGETT
We’ll stop by a pharmacy and get something.
EXT – HIGHWAY – 5PM
Scully and Krycek are sitting on the side of the road. They are tired, hungry, exhausted, water deprived, wanting a real place to spend the night. Krycek looks a bit annoyed. Scully’s rambling.
SCULLY Krycek isn’t exactly listening. He’s watching the sun set in the direction they have been walking all day.
…and I really don’t know why he
is being like that. Our relationship
died way before we ever did. (beat)
I get the feeling he was seeing
someone else. Probably a brunette, he
likes brunettes.
KRYCEK
(to himself)
Rises in the east… sets in the west…Scully continues rambling about her dead relationship with Skinner. Krycek repeats hat he said in his head, each time his eyes getting wider and wider and wider.
KRYCEK
(squeaks it out)
Oh shit!He stands up and points at the sun.
SCULLY
So I shouldn’t do that?KRYCEK
The sun rises in the east and sets
in the west! We’re heading west!Scully stands up.
SCULLY
Weren’t you listening to a
word I was saying?KRYCEK
(shaking her by shoulders)
Dana! We’ve been heading the wrong way!This shuts her up, and they both look at the mountain… oh great… no money and further to go.
SCULLY
Think we could make it back to
Colorado? I’m sure the hotel would
love to have a word or two with us…They shrug their shoulders and follow the setting sun.
CUT TO:
INT. VAN – 7PM
Marita is panicked and thrashing around.
MARITA
Why are we still driving?
It’s dark, we want to be
able to see them if we pass them.She starts tugging at the side door in a crazy attempt to jump out. Skinner is trying to hold her back, but her strength is so strong because of her need to find her friends.
SKINNER
(struggling)
Marita, no! Marita don’t.
Would you stop it!MARITA
No! Let me go! Walter!She screams at the top of her lungs. Mulder plugs his ears and Doggett tries not to get pissed again. He ignores and drives off the closest exit ramp, and stops at the nearest motel. Marita hasn’t noticed the van has stopped. Doggett gets out and goes around to get Marita out. He opens the door.
MARITA
(to Skinner)
You said we’d find them
on our way back! On our way
back Walter! On our way back!She breaks down crying and falls forward onto Doggett, he helps her out of the van. Mulder gets out and goes to the office to get them a room. Doggett continues to comfort Marita, Skinner stands watching her. She’s soaked Doggett’s shirt with her tears, and is grasping onto him as if he’s the only person in the world.
Mulder comes back out.
MULDER Marita calms down and smiles.
Guys, we got their last room.
only cold water and no TV and
a single bed, queen size. (beat/off their looks)
Here’s the good news: Joe inside has a
friend that can get missing persons
pictures on milk cartons.
CUT TO:
EXT. HIGHTWAY – 10PM
No cars in any direction, Krycek and Scully are still walking. They are too tired to know what they are doing. Scully stops and grabs Krycek’s arm. He looks at her cross eyed.
SCULLY She falls to her knees. Krycek looks at us cross eyed and then does the same.
(weak)
I don’t think we’re gonna… make it.
KRYCEK She plops on the ground and she’s down. Krycek does the same as well.
(slurred)
I heard the world is coming to
an end. Wanna go out with a bang?SCULLY
No… I wanna sleep.
TIME CUT TO:
FIVE MINUTES LATER
Krycek and Scully are now making out on the side of the road… guess they weren’t that tired after all.
In the distance we see a car approaching.
INT. BRIGHT BLUE BEETLE
Yes… it’s the bright blue Beetle we know from season four as Monica Reyes’ car. And Monica’ isn’t alone, beside her sits Buddy, the lost dog. Monica sees them on the road.
MONICA
(to Buddy)
Looks like some wild animal
got hit by a car, Buddy.She stops her car across the road from the ‘animal’ (AKA: Krycek and Scully making out). She gets out of her car and notices that is wasn’t an animal and that it’s two people making out on the dirty road!
KRYCEK
(loud/aroused)
Oh Dana!SCULLY
(loud/porn star tone)
Oh… Alex…Monica covers her mouth to hide her gasp… it’s Scully and Krycek! (NOTE: Yes, she remembers everything from before she died last season). Monica runs to her car and takes out a Poloroid Camera and takes a few snap shots of the two of them. Blackmail.
MONICA
(loud/”police” voice)
Hey you, on the road!Monica is now holding a bright flashlight on them. They don’t know it’s her.
KRYCEK Monica is holding in laughter and we see Buddy jump out of the car (the door was left open) and run toward Scully. Buddy barks as he jumps into Scully’s lap and licks her face.
Officer, you’d never believe it,
but this lady here was assaulted
by a wild animal and uh… I had
to perform CPR on her.SCULLY
Yes, a wild animal…
SCULLY Monica turns the flashlight on herself, she can’t believe they thought she was a cop.
Buddy?! Where’d you come from?
Did the nice police officer find you?
MONICA
Guys! It’s me, Monica!Krycek stands up.
KRYCEK
How long have you been watching us?MONICA
Long enough…She looks at them, knowing in the way that Monica knows things, that there is more to the story than what she saw. One can only shudder at what would’ve happened between Scully and Krycek had Monica not shown up.
MONICA
(to Krycek)
I thought you loved Marita.Scully stands up holding Buddy. She’s trying not to get involved with this discussion.
KRYCEK
I love her, we just thought
we were gonna die or something.MONICA
(to Scully)
And you. You’re engaged to Skinner.SCULLY
(doesn’t care)
Ah well…She doesn’t care that she’s engaged. She’s got a second chance at life. Monica gets in her car. Scully and Krycek look at her with sad eyes.
SCULLY
You’re leaving us here?KRYCEK
All along and unsupervised…Monica looks at them in disbelief.
MONICA
I’ll drive you back to D.C., if you let
me in on why you two did the things
you did. (beat) I’m heading to D.C. anyway.They smile at her. Krycek gets in the back and Scully sits next to Monica in the front.
TIME CUT TO:
INT. MONICA’S BRIGHT BLUE BEETLE – LATER THAT NIGHT – 11PM
Michael Jackson is playing loudly in her car. Monica and Scully are singing as loud as they can to “Bad”. Krycek is actually sleeping in the back. The song ends and they look back at Krycek who is still trying to sleep.
MONICA
Krycek, we know you’re not sleeping.KRYCEK
(eyes shut, “sleeping”)
I’m sleeping.Scully looks at Monica with a plan in her eyes.
SCULLY
We’re not wearing our shirts.Krycek sits up faster than a rabbit.
KRYCEK
You lied!Monica and Scully laugh.
MONICA Scully gives her a weird look.
We just wanted you to see
that we are in Kansas.KRYCEK
How fast are you driving?MONICA
Fast enough to beat Johnny
home. (beat) Knowing him,
he’ll have to stop and sleep for the night.SCULLY
Why are you going to move to D.C.?MONICA
Well, I really enjoyed living
so close to Johnny. We’ve known
each other for years. And you
guys were really cool.
SCULLY Krycek snort laughs in the back.
Johnny?MONICA
That’s his name. His folks
call him Johnny Jay. He goes
by John to make himself sound
better. I don’t know why.
MONICA Scully laughs.
Oh I wouldn’t be laughing if I were
you. It’s not like your name is normal.KRYCEK
What do you mean?MONICA
When you were dead, I did
a little investigating myself.
(beat) Alexander Sergeiovich Krycek II Jr.
KRYCEK Krycek looks disappointed. He didn’t want to drive.
Shut up. My father was
drunk when he named me.MONICA
Oh, you’re driving next.KRYCEK
(confused)
Why me?SCULLY
You got some “sleep”.
CUT TO:
INT. STAY N’ SAVE MOROT INN – 11:10 PM
Doggett, Skinner, Mulder and Marita are all in the same queen size bed. It’s not very comfortable for them.
MARITA Doggett is getting irritated.
I’m falling off, move over.SKINNER
I’ll fall off if I move over anymore.MARTIA
But I’m a girl.
DOGGETT Doggett gets up out of the bed and grabs one of the blankets.
It’s ok, I’ll sleep in the chair.
CUT TO:
INT. MONICA’S CAR – 11:30PM
Monica is still driving. This time, Krycek is in the front holding Buddy and Scully is getting some rest in the back. The music in the car is low so she can actually sleep.
KRYCEK
Monica?MONICA
Yeah?KRYCEK
Don’t you find it al all odd
to be back from the dead?MONICA
Yeah. I know things about
the future that other’s don’t.KRYCEK
What if it changes now that
we’re alive. Time was erased.
It’s so odd.MONICA
It’s given me a whole new perspective
of life. (beat) If you didn’t die, I
probably wouldn’t be on my way to
D.C. I went there in the first place
because I felt John’s sadness.Krycek gives her a strange look.
KRYCEK Monica laughs.
You are one strange lady.
MONICA
Yeah, I guess your right.TIME CUT TO:
INT. STAY N’ SAVE MOTOR INN – NEXT MORNING – 9AM
Doggett and Mulder are already up. Skinner is in the shower and Marita is sleeping peacefully.
DOGGETT Mulder smiles and picks up the bags and leaves. Doggett hears the water stop in the shower. He looks over at Marita and thinks it’s about time to wake her up.
Agent Mulder, can you carry these
bags out to the van for me?MULDER
You don’t have to call me
Agent. Call me just Mulder,
or if you want, you can call me Fox.DOGGETT
Ok Mulder.
DOGGETT
Marita.Marita doesn’t respond. Doggett goes over to her. He shakes her a bit.
DOGGETT Marita slowly opens her eyes.
Marita, wake up.
MARITA Skinner comes out. He looks tired too.
(sleepy)
It’s already morning?DOGGETT
Yep.MARITA
I’m so sorry John. I didn’t mean
for you to sleep in the chair. I meant
maybe Mulder could. You’ve had
such a tough time. I’m sorry.DOGGETT
It’s ok.MARITA
You look tired. You don’t
have to drive this morning.
SKINNER Marita didn’t realize she was saying that.
Marita, are you saying
you’re going to drive?
SKINNER
You’ve had the most sleep.
Plus you haven’t driven this whole trip.MARITA
Um… ok… I guess I can.CUT TO:
INT. MONICA’S CAR – 9:30AM
Scully is now driving. Krycek sits next to her. Monica is in the back sleeping.
KRYCEK Scully gets quiet knowing that she too has been dishonest.
Scully…SCULLY
What?KRYCEK
Um… I feel bad.SCULLY
You’re not going to puke are you?KRYCEK
No… not that way… I feel
bad because I’ve been dishonest
to Marita… with you.
KRYCEK
We can’t tell anyone.SCULLY
We can’t do it anymore either.KRYCEK
I know. (beat) but Monica knows.SCULLY
She won’t tell.KRYCEK
She has a picture. (beat)
(serious) I could kill her.Scully shoots a look at him, then hits him as hard as she can.
SCULLY Krycek looks back at her.
Alex Krycek! How dare you say that!MONICA
(out of nowhere)
That’s right. I’ve got a picture.
You better be nice to me and
not threaten me. All I have to
do is get my brothers up here and
they’ll take care of you if you
threaten me again.
KRYCEK
You were suppose to be sleeping!Monica sits up and smiles at him.
MONICA
How long have you been doing this?KRYCEK
I’m not telling.MONICA
Then I’ll tell the others.There is a hesitated beat.
SCULLY She smiles at them.
It started in pre-school.MONICA
(in utter shock)
Oh my god!KRYCEK
SCULLY! What are you doing?SCULLY
(ignoring Krycek)
But it wasn’t really considered
sex then-MONICA
Whoa… I didn’t know you guys
were having sex! I just though
you were cheating on your significant
others. (beat) But go on… now that I know.
SCULLY Monica looks at them in disbelief.
All we did was kiss and stuff. The
actual sex came in the eighth grade.
When we knew what to do.
KRYCEK Monica rolls her eyes.
(defensive)
We only did it to test out
moves out before doing
them with someone we
actually cared about.
MONICA Out of nowhere, Krycek’s stomach makes a hungry noise.
That’s the stupidest thing
I’ve ever heard.SCULLY
Well it’s true!KRYCEK
This was the first time we did
in almost… uh… eleven years.
You know, we were dead forever
it seemed. A man has needs.MONICA
You are so pathetic.
SCULLY Krycek rolls his eyes.
(to Krycek)
Was that you?KRYCEK
I’m starving.MONICA
I saw a sign for a Subway.KRYCEK
Health food?SCULLY
It’s good to eat healthy.
CUT TO:
INT. VAN – 9:40AM
Everyone is in the van. Marita is in the drivers seat, Doggett is shotgun, and Mulder and Skinner are in the middle seat. Marita doesn’t look like she knows what she’s doing. They haven’t pulled out yet.
DOGGETT Marita starts the van. She slowly pulls out. She starts to drive on the wrong side of the road.
Anytime now, we can leave.
MULDER
What are you doing?MARITA
I’m driving.She continues to drive on the wrong side of the road. Cars dodging them.
DOGGETT She looks as if she might cry. Doggett takes the wheel and helps her pull off to the side of the road. The van stops. Marita is crying again.
You’re on the wrong side of the road.MARITA
(scared/panic)
Oh no… what do I do?
DOGGETT A car drives by and the driver says something very rude to them. And Marita knows it’s directed at her.
It’s ok.
MARITA Marita turns around to face him.
(crying)
Why is everyone picking on me?
I can’t do anything.MULDER
(being mean)
Where did you learn to drive? England?
MARITA
(upset)
Yes!Mulder goes quiet. Marita continues to cry. Doggett looks back at Skinner and Mulder for help.
SKINNER CUT TO:
I can drive.
INT. MONICA’S CAR – 2PM
Monica is back in the drivers seat, so much for trying to get Krycek to drive. The music is blaring again and all of them sing along. Suddenly, Scully stops singing.
SCULLY Scully points to the van up a little ways.
Oh my god.MONICA
What?SCULLY
That’s the van.KRYCEK
Where?
SCULLY
Let’s do something as we pass them.KRYCEK
Can I moon them?MONICA
(laughs)
Yeah!They approach the van. Monica turns up the music to get their attention in the van. The song “Wild Thing” is playing.
By this time, Doggett is driving the van. We see Monica’s car approaching.
Suddenly, Scully pulls her shirt off, opens her window and waves her shirt out the window. In the back seat, Krycek pulls down his pants and moons the van. Monica honks the horn.
INT. VAN
Doggett hears the honking and looks out his window. He, and everyone else in the van is appauled. They don’t notice who they are.
Monica speeds past them.
DOGGETT
Stupid drunk drivers.INT. MONICA’S CAR
They are laughing hysterically. Scully puts her shirt back on, and Krycek pulls up his pants.
KRYCEK
MAN! Road trips with you are fun!HUGE TIME CUT TO:
INT. SCULLY & MARITA’S APT – SEVERAL DAYS LATER
Scully and Monica are unpacking some boxes that Monica brought with her. They are putting them into the guest bedroom, which for now will be Monica’s room.
Krycek walks in with a box of Monica’s things. Buddy follows him in.
MONICA At that very moment, the door to the apartment opens and Marita and Doggett walk in, followed by Mulder and Skinner.

It’s no problem. I’m
sure Marita will be thrilled.MONICA
When my stuff from New Orleans arrives,
I’ll just put it into storage until I find my
own place.KRYCEK
I wonder when they’ll get back.
Scully, Monica and Krycek enter the living room to greet them.
SCULLY
Welcome home!They look in her direction, a little shocked that she is home. Buddy runs up to Doggett.
Doggett sees Monica and stops dead in his tracks.
DOGGETT She smiles at him like it’s normal for her to be here. She goes up to him to give him a hug. He hasn’t seen her in three years. But out of nowhere he punches Monica because of “The Bullet Incident”. She falls to the ground… one would say that he hit her with the same force that he used with Alex Krycek.

Monica?!MONICA
(happy)
Hey Johnny!
DOGGETT
(mad about something)
What are you doing here?MONICA
(on ground/holding her jaw)
I’ve moved here.DOGGETT
(confused/to Scully & Krycek)
You don’t know her!Monica stands up.
SCULLY She gives him a smile.
There’s a lot you don’t know Doggett.
MARITA She runs up to Monica and hugs her. Off of Doggett’s confusion as to why after three years, Monica decides to move here, we:
