Grade: Very Good. A lot of dropouts/snow – looks like a typical
broadcast quality game.
Notes: This is the
last game between these two teams as AFC West rivals, as Seattle moves to the NFC West in the 2002
season. This game was originally
scheduled for week 2 (Sep 16), but due to the attacks of September 11 it was
moved to the week after week 17. The
Seahawks play like they want to make it to the playoffs, while the Chiefs play
like they are already looking toward the next season. Dick Vermeil’s “Greatest Show on Turf – West”
is still a work in progress, and the Chiefs struggle to get their offense going
against a strong Seahawks defense.
Seattle’s special teams tries to let the Chiefs back in late in the
fourth quarter, but KC can only manage one of the two scores needed to tie the
game and they finish the season 6-10.
Priest Holmes finishes the season at the top of the NFL rushing chart
with 1,555 yards, ahead of Curtis Martin and Marshall Faulk.
