Notes:  Dan Fouts threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to John Jefferson in the final seconds of overtime to give San Diego its third consecutive victory.  Jan Stenerud’s 47-yard field goal with two seconds left in regulation, which hit the crossbar and fell through, sent the game into an extra period.  The Chargers started their winning drive with two minutes left.  They covered 48 yards in seven plays for the deciding score.  San Diego’s Lydell Mitchell gained 144 yards on 19 carries to become the eleventh all-time leading rusher in NFL history.
