Sensei Toru Takamizawa, 6th Dan, was a major influence on Sensei Derek Ridgway's Wado-Ryu training. Sadly he passed away from Cancer quite recently, but his influence lives on in many senior Karate-Ka in the UK
This picture shows Derek Ridgway with Sensei Toru Takamazawa 7th Dan, who was an important influence during the 1970’s and early 1980’s. He had a large club in Birmingham and was a regular visitor to Roy Partridge’s club in West Bromwich. He has now sadly passed away, but his influence still remains in Sensei Derek’s teaching.
This picture shows Sensei Derek with Master Jiro Otsuka, 10th Dan, who was Sensei Toru’s senior instructor when he was in Japan. Also standing next to Master Otsuka is Sensei Shiomitsu, 8th Dan, who is a long time senior instructor in Europe.
