This is the beginning of the last day of the excavation. Each blue flag represents the location of all the bones to be surveyed.

George is busy here setting up the alidade. This was a new instrument to me, and it works all kinds of wonders. Luckily, George assigned me to hold the stadia at each bone location. This is the kind of assignment I can handle--standing in one place and holding a wooden stick.
