The Index of Appeals Board Decisions was designed to be a quick reference and research tool for accessing Appeals Board cases. The Index is broken out into three separate sections. The Keyword Index and Table of Contents contain workers compensation topics which are each assigned a subsection number. Depending on your preference for how the topics are arranged (ie alphabetically or in outline form) use either or both of the Keyword Index and Table of Contents to find the topic and corresponding subsection number you would like to read Board decisions discussing. Then use the Case Summaries section to read annotated Appeals Board cases. The Case Summaries section is broken out into 15 different chapters and subsection numbers-- the first number of the subsection number tells you which chapter to look for that number in. For instance, if you wish to read about cases under subsection 8.17, you would look in Chapter 8 under subsection number 8.17; if you wish to read about subsection 10.07, you would look in Chapter 10 under subsection 10.07, etc. After reading the case annotations in the Case Summaries section, you can go to the Home Page of this site and click on the AWorkers Compensation Appeals Board Decisions@ link to read the full-text version of the Appeals Board decision. You can research the Board decisions on the Internet by using the Index of Appeals Board Decisions. HOW OFTEN WILL THE INDEX BE UPDATED?
The Index will be updated at least monthly to include the most current month=s decisions as well as any appellate court decisions pertaining to the Board decisions. The Index currently contains decisions from 1993- present. However, some decisions in 1994-1996 are not yet in the Index. They will be added as time permits.
ARE ALL THE APPEAL BOARD CASES LISTED IN THE INDEX?
No. Some decisions which simply reiterate points already annotated in the Index will not be repeated. Examples of this would be decisions pertaining to preliminary hearing jurisdiction and nature and extent.
HOW DO I ASHEPARDIZE@ APPEALS BOARD CASES?
Appeals Board decisions are listed in the Index according to the most recent decision. However, if the Board has held several decisions on the same docket number, those decisions are listed together. Additionally, all appellate court cases (both published and unpublished) relating to the Appeals Board decisions are listed at the end of each case annotation.
