CHAPTER THREE (3)
(Tuesday the 9th of spring) When I got up the next day, someone with a bird was outside lying next to the shipping bin. He said, “Food… hungry… *Search, search*” I replied, “Uh… sorry I don’t have any right now… but I can get some if you’ll wait here.” I ran off to the mountains and got some herbs and berries. But when I got back he was gone and Ann was standing in where he was laying. She said, “There you are!” I asked her, “Was there someone here when you came in?” she replied, “Uh huh, some bum was licking out bingo’s dish so I chased him away.” I sighed. Oh well…
Now that I knew where Karen lived I wanted to talk to her and I wanted some of that free wine! (And it isn’t rainy today so I won’t get sick) when I went up the road and into the vineyard Karen and Gotz weren’t fighting this time (which surprised me) so I went into the big house and saw Sasha. She said, “Well, hi Angel* nice that you could stop by!” “Want some berries?” I asked. She replied, “Not right now but Karen might want some. She’s out in mountains by the Carpenters house. So I ran outside into the mountain’s, across the bridge and saw Karen and Ann sitting on the porch of the carpenter’s house. Ann looked up at me and said, “Hi, Angel*!” she saw the berries in my hand and said, “Are those for me?” I replied, “Well…” but before I could say no she got up and walked over to me so I handed them to her. Karen looked at me funny then turned away… I looked at my watch, it was 3:50 pm and I didn’t put anything in the shipping bin so stuffed my bag full (some of it was flowers though and I only got those so I could give them to Popuri or someone) and ran home and got all the shipping’s in just before 5pm. I now have 470g! I watered my turnips and went to bed. It was only 6:00pm *eyepopping*!
(Wednesday, the 10th day of spring)
When I went outside the next day and my turnips were ready to ship! So I picked them put some of them in my bag and put the others in the s. bin.
When I went of my farm Karen was walking over to the mountains so for some reason I followed her, quietly of course. She walked across the bridge and turned around really fast but I jumped behind a tree putting my arms out in line with branches. She turned back and kept walking, so did I. But as I was walking across the bridge a couple of the boards came loose cracked. Luckily she went into another part of the mountains so she didn’t hear them. As I took another step *crack* *aah* *splash* I got back up to the surface of the water to see some guy with a brown hat and a feather on it starring down at me. He said, “What are you doing down there?” I replied, “Uh… swimming *embarrassmed*?” “Well if you want to swim there’s a beach you know. Or wait, you’re the new farmer, Angel* right?” said the man. “Yeah… Where’s beach?” I asked. He said, “Right after you go into the green ranch then go south.” “Uh… thanks. What’s your name anyway?” “Basil. I own the flora along with Lillia. Well, I’d better be going my family doesn’t know I’m back!” Basil said walking away. “’bye” I said getting out of the water. I could hear him saying something about the farm never going to get any money with me doing the farming… or something… Karen was coming back from… where ever she went, so I ran over to the same tree and did the same thing as before.
As soon as she went past I ran over to the river and started fish ‘til 3:00 pm and I finally caught one fish! It was small though… I got some more berries and such ran back to my farm and threw the stuff in the bin and I got so used to throwing things in there that, “Aaaaaaaaah!!! noooooo!!!” I threw my only fish… in the shipping bin… oh well… I wander how much money I’ll get… as the shipper dude came in he took the shipping’s out of the bin and said, “Here’s 230g. And I’m guessing that you don’t have anything else to ship?” I nodded. I have 700g now!
I ran to the bar with Bingo to see if Ann was there and she FINALLY was! As soon as I sat down she ran over to me and said, “He looks bigger!” Karen wasn’t far away. She looked at Bingo and came close enough that I could hear here say, “He looks fatter to me! I just hope he isn’t that fat for the dog race this winter…” “Oh! That reminds me! The horse race is on the 17th! Although Speedy won’t be able to enter because he’s too young (I doubt he would even let me touch him much less ride him!). See you later.” She said running out the door.
Karen jumped (she didn’t really jump she just kind of woke up, so to speak) and walked up to me, “Sorry… d’you want anything to drink.” I heard Duke, *Ahm* and Karen, *Ungh* Duke *wink* ed at me. Karen said, “Excuse me… (she lowered her voice) what’s your name?” “It’s Angel*” I said (I had been trying to get her attention to say that ever since I first talked to her) she continued, “Excuse me, Angel*. Would you like something to drink? We have Water (free) Milk, Beer and Wine.” “Water’s fine.” I said liking her finally listening to what I was saying. She walked over to the counter and came back with my water. I asked her, “Uh… why are you so formal all of a sudden?” she replied, “Duke wants me to be nicer when I wait on people because some people are gonna come here sometime to see if they can shut us down…” I nodded and drank my water. “Well… good night.” I said picking up my puppy and walking home… it was 8:30pm.
