Circle/DJka: Degital Papa
Date Published: 1996

  • Artwork: Absolutely beautiful! The lines are flowing and ethereal. I get an otherworldly feel when I look at it. However, one thing I noticed is that there are two distinct artistic styles in Degital Papa doujinshis. Compare the Duo on the cover of DP's "Cinderella" dj, to the Duo on the cover of this dj. It seems like they have two different djkas who try to draw in a basically similar style, but I'm not sure. Like Uruchan said, the "Cinderella" Duo's kinda gangly, I don't like him nearly as much as the other one. Fortunately, most of the work is done in the style you see on the cover.

  • Plot: This is an anthology of MANY Degital Papa stories, including: Cinderella, Love is Blind, An Hour of Love is 10 Centuries of Loneliness, and lots more (it's more than a half inch thick ^_^) Degital Papa stories typically contain a lot of conversation between Heero and Duo, and since I know very little Japanese, I don't know what they're talking about, so I'm just going by the pictures here. ^_^;;

    There are a couple of cute, silly strips at the beginning, one of which has Quatre playing a trick on Duo by wearing a picture of Heero on his face. After that, there are a whole bunch of dj stories, so I'll mention just a couple of them. One story takes place when Heero, Duo, and Wufei were captured by OZ. Duo nuzzles up to Heero and suggests they do H (have sex #^_^#) but Heero thwacks him on the head and points out that Wufei's there too, even though Duo doesn't seem to mind... In another one Duo takes a shower and Heero comes in and this time they *do* get to do H, and afterwards Heero carries him out in his arms. ^_^

  • Opinion: I really love this dj!! ^_^ Even though I really wish I could understand the lengthy conversations between Heero and Duo, it's still one of my favorites simply because of the art. The problem with getting an anthology is always that you miss out on the great cover art of the individual djs, and Degital Papa does *beautiful* covers. I'd suggest this book for people who want a bunch of Degital Papa stories all at once, or don't mind missing out on the beautiful cover art of the individual djs. I'll probably end up getting both, though. ^_~

    BONUS: There are several nice black and white pinups scattered throughout the book. ^_^
