History

This beautiful black vehicle has a GM Fairfax March 1998 build date on the door jam. For those of you who don't know, the GM Fairfax plant is located in Kansas City, Missouri, which is twenty minutes from my front door. I purchased Shadow on April 28, 1998 from Ron Olson Chevrolet on Paola, Ks. I had originally gone to place an order for a GT with much less equipment however Ron had this one on his lot. When I saw this car I looked at Ron and said "I'll take it". On the ride home the wife noticed a rushing air noise. We proceeded to punch all the buttons but could not get rid of the sound. Once home, I started checking various things and noticed the left rear quarter window was loose. After applying gentle pressure to the interior side of the window it fell out and was now lying in my hand. Back to the dealer, put her in the shop, re-seal the window, and drive her home a week later. With this one exception I have had no problems and absolutely love this car. This vehicle could very well put a stop to my two-year trade-in policy.

This vehicle is very well equipped. In addition to Option Package 1SC, this car came with graphite leather, 16" high polished 5-spoke aluminum wheels, compact disc player w/ 8-speaker premium sound and rear window antenna, rear deck lid spoiler, driver 4-way power lumbar support, theft deterrent system, and heated driver bucket seat. Total vehicle list price including destination charges = $24,050.00. I have been averaging 23 mpg on my daily city/highway commutes, and received 30 mpg on a recent trip to St. Louis.

Had I ridden in a new GTP I might have reconsidered my purchase of the GT. The money was tight at the time and I simply could not justify the extra expenditure. However, I am very pleased with my decision!!!

KCCGP

After my purchase I was "surfing the net" and came across gp-owners.com. I was overwhelmed by this network of Pontiac enthusiasts sharing information and ideas on everything from air intakes to Zaino. I immediately placed my name on the national registry and began reading the posts of others. The wealth of information that is available on this car is amazing. It was from this that I found our local club, KCCGP, and so I registered my car again. I was contacted by Tony Lauer in regards to my interest in the club and my car. He informed me of an idea he was working on for a national gathering of GP owners. I expressed my interest and before long I was attending the first annual Grand Prix Gathering (GPG 98). I met many interesting people, saw a variety of modified Grand Prixs including the 300 GPX straight from Pontiac, and was hooked. Let the modifications begin!!!

It wasn't long before our local KCCGP was growing. We currently have 53 cars in the registry and meet on a bi-monthly basis. We have done everything from mod days to going to KCIR (the local drag strip) for grudge night. Usually, it's lunch and bullsh*t sessions and just hangin' out. I would like to take this opportunity to give a shout-out to all the local members. You guys/gals are what make this so enjoyable.

I have never considered myself a "motorhead" and still don't. Hell, let's be honest, I'm no mechanic but I do get a real kick out of doing some modifications to my car to personalize it. I have received much help from the locals and for that I am very appreciative! I'm proud to own a Pontiac Grand Prix GT!!!
