Sonic R Network: Information
First off, you need a buddy to race with. Upto 4 players can race at the same time so find your friends who have the game. Now, if you're going to connect to their IP, then let them give it to you. If your friends will connect to your IP, then here's how to get yours: For windows 95+ users, Click "start" on the task bar and click "run". After you have clicked "run" type in "winipcfg" to get your IP. I'd suggest you only give your IP to your friend or someone you really trust because someone could hack you if you're not careful. Now, insert your Sonic R CD into your PC. Install Sonic R onto your PC (Exp. C:/SEGA/Sonic_R/). Once you have Sonic R installed onto your PC explore the CD and you'll find a "Network" folder. Inside that folder should be a "Sr_net.exe" inside. With that file extract it into the directory in which you installed Sonic R (Exp. C:/SEGA/Sonic_R/). Once that is all done click on the "Update" file (The file which you extracted into your Sonic R directory) so you can boot up your game. Once you game has started Press "start" to get to the menu shown above. While at the menu select the option that has two PCs connected. After selecting the network icon you'll be asked to provide your name. This name can be your nickname or made up. Once you've entered your name you will come to a screen like this. The best method for connecting is TCP/IP. So press F2 to go on to the next page. Now lets say your friend is going to use your IP to connect to you, you would press F1 to create a game for your friend to play. If you are connecting to your friend's IP, then press F2. If you pressed F2 to connect to you friend's IP you'll come to a screen like this. Enter your friend's IP and try to connect. If you're friend already created a game and is ready for you, connection should go really fast. Once you're connected with your friend(s) you enter a chat room. In this chat room you can talk (But, typing is a REAL pain) and choose your character. The person you connected to is in control. He picks the level to race in and starts the race for you. If you are in control, Press F1 to start the race with your friends. I'm not going to lie, when you first start the race, the game is EXTREMELY slow! Be pateint in racing, it will get better trust me. If you can manage with going slow for just the first round then around the second lap you do the race should go to it's normal speed.
