I have 14 minutes to finish and get this off, so the fingers are a blur long about now.

Got some essentials ordered, should be here tomorrow, but having trouble finding water-base ink. They don't carry it much these days, shame on them.

Reading and researching and going crazy in the process, but at least I'm clean and sober and all seems to be moving along at breathtakingly tortoise-like speed. The sheer plod of it, eh?

Had coffee with pal Liz this morning, and she drove me around for a couple of errands. Lovely Amber sposed to be at the Break tonight, but who knows? I have to be back in the house by 10:30 lest I turn into a pumpkin....sigh.

Reading Martin Cruz Smith once again, Polar Star, and his writing touches me so intensely. There I will be, reading along, and suddenly I am not there anymore but am in a place where all is poetic feeling. I feel poetic, even if the poetry doesn't yet flow.

Msallthat, darling, I love you and am praying for a poem to emerge. Feels like I'm beginning to, um, *feel* again, so I guess it takes time to recover from that last bout with Vodka.

And, lest I not be able to make it to a puter again before Xmas, Merry Christmas to each of you. You are all just wonderful, wonderful angels of my recovery, and I truly would not want to do this thing without your love and support.

It does look like I will have the shirt completed before the Millineum, but I doubt I'll going to be able to buy very many blanks. $ problems, of course. But at least I will do *something* and will be back in the field.

Loveisarose, how are you, o, silent one? Write and catch me uppers, Dear Heart.

Barbara, I hope you get to a computer soon!

Dalila, I will open that package soon, Dear One! And why such a brief email? Are you busy or what?

The buildings here are outlined with lights, so there is this surreal electrical line-drawing of the skyline, mostly two-story. Lawrence is not a vertical place. More a vortex than anything else.

Mindy goes to London soon in her Little Red Riding Hood coat. Best Wishes from the Wolf. Heh.

Am going slowly crazy but it ain't all that bad. I just have to get soooo much done and will do so soon. Meet with Jenny the Graphic Artist in a few hours, so a lot of editing to do.

Snow nearly all gone now, very cold, my ears feel brittle after a few blocks of trudging, my hands thrust deep into my jeans. This, after all, is Kansas, not Honolulu.

Not terribly depressed or anything. Just trying to maintain what little sanity I've recently been blessed with.

Good to hear yr son is back, Carol. We had a 19 yo kid interview last night. Wish I could have had that then....

This is *not* the kind of Circle Letter I want to send out, but I have literally no time to do anything of merit. Take what comes. I will do better down the line.

4 minutes.

Don't forget the full moon tonight. And we are now officially in winter, the solstice is here. The darkest evening of the year, and I think of Robert Frost. "Miles to go before I sleep" and all.

The new millineum is just ahead of us! And what a terrific way to go out, thinking of you, hoping for you.

Happy, happy Millineum!!!!
Much aloha,
Dickens
