Let's see.. where to begin... Honestly, I'm not a big fan of high action, little emotion, absolutly no character development what-so-ever episodes. They're ok, they're just not my favorite. So I would have to say that this was a pretty good episode considering it's content.
First of all, I understand the fact that Voyager is in the Delta Quadrent, therefore they can't have one constant enemy. However, it would be nice to have some kind of recurring enemy. I think that's where the Vaaduar come in. From the very begging I could sense that the Vaaduar were a bit fishy. Especially when Neelix recalled their name meant 'foolish'. True they didn't look very scary, but niether did the Cardassians when they first appeared on TNG. So perhaps they'll grow on us. I like the idea of a hard core enemy, a true personage that is lurking in the shadows of the Delta Quadrent. Unfortunalty one episode is not enough to make a true oppinion about the enemy yet, but so far so good. I like that the Vaaduar conquerors, similar to the ancient Romans, it works well with these characters. I'm looking forward to seeing them again.
I also loved the idea of Neelix being the one to firgure it out. I was disapionted once the writters veared away from Neelix's helpful comments on the Delta Quadrent. True he's far away from home, but he has to know something! So it was satisfying that he had heard of these 'foolish' aliens before.
