Survival Instinct ***

First of all I must apologize for such a small review this week, but I've been so busy!

I was not expecting this episode to be as good as it was. The previews made it seem like yet ANOTHER Seven want's back with the Borg episode. It turned to be completly different and I was relieved. What made me like it so much was it's simple message: survial's insignificant.

From the begging I was blown away by the special effects, they were truly amazing. I was also impressed with the jovial humor that was sprinkled throughout the episode. I found myself giggling in the first scene, when I saw Janeway's Ready Room, what a mess! The scene with Tom and Harry was pricless and I caught a glimps of the real Captain Janeway that we all know and love when she asked Tom if they won the fight, the smirk she gave them was unmistakable!

As usual Jeri Ryan did a wonderful job acting, her performances just keep getting better. The three guest stars were also great, they all gave believable performances.

There were also a few brilliantly acted scenes between the Doctor and Seven. The best one came when the Doctor attempted to talk Seven out of choosing death row for her friends. Surpurb acting from both Bob and Jeri, you could clearly see the emotions on both of their faces. Not to metion the fact that that wonderful scene was once again tapping into the very marrow of Star Trek. That discusion was a real life issue that was looked at and talked about with supreme intelligence. Bravo to the writters who came up with that truly touching scene.

All in all it was an exelant episode. Everything was satisfactory and the only reason I gave it 3 stars was because it wasn't one of my all time favorites, but otherwise it was good entertainment.

Next Week: B'Elanna takes a hell-bound trip! (personally I can't wait!)
