Rowan

Rowan was formed in 1997 in Wichita, Kansas by Anne Crane, Dean Karres, Doug Harvey and Lance Zimmerman. Marianne Payette Carter and I split a "Westside Folk" concert with them in 1999 when she and I were briefly performing as a duo. Soon afterwards, Anne and Dean resigned, and when Doug and Lance relocated to the Lawrence area in early 2000, they invited the two of us to join. I resigned toward the end of 2004. Lance has since moved to California and John Thompson has joined on accordion.

Rowan was a reasonably good band. It is the only band I've been in where the other members were VERY focused on earning money, which had both positive and, eventually, negative consequences for me.
