Chapter 15

(written by Lacy)

"Look, I have no reason to even look at you, let alone talk to you, so how about we just cut this short and save each other the aggrivation," Jade said after Kevin had led her to one of the patio corners to "talk", as Jess had put it. Kevin looked at her with a blank expression before replying. "I've already said everything I have to say to you, Jade." Jade bit her lip to keep her hurt and angry words from spilling out of her mouth. "What's that supposed to mean?" she demanded. Kevin's eyes darkened.

"Look, I'm not the one who CHEATED, I'm not the one who TOOK OFF without a word, leaving behind someone who was more in love with me than he had ever been with anyone or anything in his entire life, and I'm not the one who LIED to everyone and hurt the ones who loved me the most," he growled through his teeth, making it just loud enough so only she could hear. Now, Jade couldn't stop the tears from streaming down her face. "You have no idea what you're talking about...," she said, trailing off as the words caught in her throat. "No, Jade, YOU have no idea what I'm talking about, because you didn't stick around long enough to find out. Do you have any idea how scared out of my mind I was that day I walked over to your house to find it completely empty? DO YOU? No, you don't, because you were gone. I was afraid something had happened to you, Jade, that you had been robbed and maybe even KILLED!" He yelled, catching the attention of several people who were standing by them.

Jade covered her mouth with her hand as a sob escaped her that shook her whole body. "Um, sorry to interrupt, but do you guys wanna take it into the house? You're kinda starting to attract attention," Howie said, walking over to them, followed by Nick and AJ. "Shut up, D! It's none of our business," Nick said, looking at Jade with a very worried expression. "No... no, you're right Howie. AJ, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ruin your party. I shouldn't of even come," Jade said, turning around and starting to walk into the house.

"Jade, come on, don't leave," AJ said, grabbing her arm. "Just let her go," Kevin said, causing Jade to look at him with more hatred than she had ever thought she could muster. "I have to go, AJ," she said, still looking directly at Kevin, "my son's father obviously can't stand my presence," she said. Without another word, she turned on her heel and left them all standing, staring after her with open mouths.

"Jess, are you okay?" Brian asked, coming up behind her and rubbing her back as she knelt over the pool house toilet. "Peachy," she said, her voice echoing from inside the toilet bowl. Brian couldn't help but laugh. "How is this funny?" she asked, her voice raising slightly in anger, making her voice echo even more and Brian laugh even harder. "What?!" she yelled, the loud ehco making the single word barely understandable. By this time, Brian was rolling on the floor with laughter and tears were streaming down his face.

Jess's head finally reappeared from inside the white porcaline and she sat there staring at Brian as if he was the weirdest thing she had ever seen in her life. "Would you like me to puke on you?" she asked, causing him to stop his hystarical laughter and give her a quizzical look. "If you did, My Dear, it would inturn cause me to puke, and then you would just puke all over again, and it would turn into a rather disgusting puke fest," he said, smiling at her evily. Her face scrunched up in pure disgust. "Brian Thomas Littrell, that is by far the most disgusting thing I have ever heard!" she said, covering her mouth with her hand.

"Hey, I think there's gonna be a fight!" someone yelled from outside, and Brian and Jess both looked at each other with amusement before jumping up and running out of the pool house. They were both taken by surprise when they ran smack into LeighAnne. She looked at them, then looked at the pool house that they had just came out of together, and then back at them. It looked like she was about to cry. Maybe it was the fact that the alcohol hadn't completely worn off yet, but Jess was loving every bit of it.

"LeighAnne--," Brian started, but was stunned into silence as LeighAnne slapped him across the face. "How could you?" she demanded before taking off toward the house. Brian stood there rubbing his cheek when Jess noticed that most of the party had gathered to one side of the patio. "What the Hell?" she said. As her and Brian moved closer to the house, Brian still rubbing his soar cheek, it wasn't long before they realized that it was Kevin and Jade who were causing the big scene. "Oh, shit," Jess muttered, causing Brian to throw her a confused look. They stood there and listened as the scene played out before them.

"Jade, come on, don't leave," AJ said, grabbing her arm as she walked passed him. "Just let her go," Kevin said, bitterness lacing his every word. Jade whirled around and stared at him as if she wished he were dead. "I have to go, AJ," they heard her say, "my son's father obviously can't stand my presence." And with that, she spun around and stalked away, leaving 75 people staring after her with shocked expressions on every one of their faces. Brian looked at Jess with a look she would never forget; a look that said you-had-better-explain-right-now.
