(written by Michelle) "Vrroommm," Scott said as he pushed the little cars around the carpet to the side of Jess. She smiled down at the little one who seemed to be so content in his own little world. She hated to admit it, but she was a little envious of how when he played nothing else existed. Jess wished she could do that; just forget about Brian and all of her other problems. But they were here and they weren't budging. She flipped through the magazine she was reading only to come across a picture of Brian with his arms around LeighAnne smiling brightly. Holding back her vomit, she dropped the magazine to the floor and walked to the window to check Jade's progress on her car. Pulling back the curtain she could hear the shouts of Jade as she was lifted above Nick's head. Jess smiled; those two were inseperable.
Jess's smile quickly faded as she noticed AJ and Howie approach the two. Shocked to see them, she quickly regained her composure and picked Scott up from his spot on the floor and carried him out to the backyard. "Where are we going Aunt Jessie?" he asked, his eyes shining brightly. "I thought we'd go and play in the water untill Mommy was done," Jess said, not wanting to alarm the child that their cover was about to be blown. "Tay," Scott replied, moving the Matchbox cars he held in his hand through the air. As Jess was stepping out the patio doors, she could hear Jade coming through the front door trying to warn Jess of AJ and Howie's presence. "WE JUST GOT A NEW CAT AND HE'S A LITTLE JUMPY," she spoke loudly, alerting Jess. Jess quietly closed the patio door and walked quickly to the water's edge, sitting Scott down to dip his toes in the warm water.
She watched again as the little boy quickly became oblivious to his surroundings as he was swept up in his own little world once again. Jess tossed her head back and let the bright sunshine cast its warm rays on her face, lightening her serious mood. Brian's visit had haunted her dreams and had prevented her from sleeping. They were even starting to interfere with her work. Thank God she had a lot of vacation days and the team was on a break. It seemed like everytime she closed her eyes she saw his face, pleading with her to understand his point of view. What about her point of view?? He was the first man she had given her heart to, fully, and he had repayed her by ripping it out and stomping on it.
Visions of her heart still beating, dripping blood in Brian's hand, danced across her field of vision. "Gross," she said aloud, catching Scott's attention for a brief second until he was swept back into his world of make believe with the frog he found. Jess could feel the sun sink behind a cloud as a shadow made it's way over her body... but clouds didn't clear their throats. "Jess?" it spoke to her. For a second she thought she was hallucinating. Kevin was not standing behind her but in her mind, at least that's what she hoped.
She turned slowly around to see Kevin standing behind her, as real as could be, not looking happy. "Kevin, hi, how are you?" Jess said covering up her uneasiness at the way he looked at her. "Who's that?" he asked, his eyes never leaving Scott. "That's... that's...," Jess's mind fought for an answer and she quickly blurted out the first thing that entered her mind; "He's my son." Wrong answer, she told herself.
