Chris Irvine was born in New York City on September 11, 1970. His father was Ted Irvine who played for the Rangers in the NHL at the time. In the off-season his family would move back to Winnipeg. Chris lived in various cities throughout hid dad's career but Winnipeg was home. Chris went to school in Winnipeg and earned a degree in journalism after going to Red River Community College.

He got into wrestling from watching WWF and Stampede Wrestling. Chris also used to set up rings for promoter Bob Holliday while still living in Winnipeg. After finishing college he decided wrestling was what he wanted to do. He moved to Calgary to enter Stu Hart's school (dungeon) when he was nineteen. He went there everyday for about three for two months. After that he was on his own.

Once on his own Chris worked independents around Calgary for a while. That was when a promoter told him he needed a name. So he came up with Jericho. From the Bible and also because he had an album called "Walls of Jericho" he thought it would be a neat name.

In 1992 Chris got a chance to work for a smaller company in Mexico which led the way to the EMLL which was a bigger Mexican company. He worked there for two years. From there Chris got the opportunity to go work for a company in Japan called WAR. He worked there for two years as well. That was the time when he had to come up with the name Lion Heart. While working in Mexico and Japan he had to come up with another name because they couldn't pronounce Jericho. So he came up with Lion Heart because most of the other wrestlers in Japan had animal names.

While still in Japan Chris met up with Chris Benoit. Benoit helped Chris get into ECW where he made his debut on February of 1996. Benoit was working there at the time. Then Benoit went onto WCW , he put in a good word for Chris there too. But then Chris met a guy doing independant shows in L.A. Chris kept calling and calling the guy. He was one of the guys putting together a show in L.A. That's where Chris met Eric Biscoff. Chris gave him a call and it was a done deal.He debuted in WCW September of 1996. Afterwards he became a WCW cruiserweight champ on several occasions and also winning the T.V. title on one occasion.

Also being inducted into the Canadian Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1997. Chris resides to Orlando Florida and still wrestles as Chris Jericho in the WWF.
