The Game That Refused To Die



If you’re reading this, you play Goldeneye. And I’m pretty sure you still do. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I still play it on a regular basis, and I still enjoy it. Most of you know it was released
over a year ago, and it still lives on today. People still buy it, rent it, trade it, steal it (ahem) or whatever. But we have to ask the question "why?". Why is it so popular? Why do people keep coming back to play it?

We’ll discard the obvious. It’s a good friggin’ game. The graphics and sound are spectacular, but most of all, it’s downright fun. That aside, we have to look deeper into the game. And obvious assumption
would be the Gameshark - thanks to Bad Boyz and all our other GS hacker friends (whom I thank sincerely) the game still maintains it's replayability, and finding new things to do is a blast. Who knew that there were more multiplayer levels, and cool little glitches you could unlock when they bought the game? But besides that, we, the players of Goldeneye, owe a HELL of a lot to those people that make up the rumors. Half the fun of a mystery is solving it, right? Well, if we didn’t have OddJob, (and Mayday, to a lesser extent, although I’m not too sure why) the game would have been dead ages ago. If that’s due to clever programming, or a simple mistake that we all picked up on, I’ll never know. At least not until Rare gives us solid evidence. And to think that people give these liars hell for doing this. Sure lying isn’t all that great, but can we prove them wrong? (Except maybe for the OddJob-in-briefcase thing...yikes) But when you honestly think about it, none of us would really be making these pages if these rumors were nonexistent. Kudos to the programming geniuses at Rare for making the game that didn’t, and will not, die.

Boba's Beta Section



Okay here is something I left out of the Dam. The Door where you start never led to anything, it was there as a "way to get into the level".

Here are the objectives for the Facility in the BETA VERSION:

(Agent) Gain Entry to Laboratory Area
(Agent) Rendezvous with 006
(Agent) Plant mines on bottling tanks

(Secret Agent) Contact Double Agent
(Agent) Minimize Scientist Casualties
(These last two were added about two weeks before shipment)

Dr. Doak was not planned to be in the game until 2 weeks before the release date. The door decoder was still planned in the game, but Dr. Doak didn't give it to you, Alec did. Alec was located in the blue room next to the staircase. That was the Rendezvous point. The room was filled with many boxes. You would meet there, and Alec would give you the door decoder. He would now follow you and give you extra fire power.

A lot less amount of guards were in this level than now, but there were more scientists. The scientist just stood there and ran off when you came. The walls were changed from white to gray, the bathroom doors looked like the Archives doors at first, and the computers were added to give the scientists something to do.

The security locked doors had barely any guards behind them. They were both filled with scientists.

The bottling room as most of you know, the tanks were double stacked. The original way to blow up the Facility was to use timed mines set for six minutes, when Ouroumov showed up it was changed from six to three. The original exit was only the conveyor belt. The door led to a dead end (the one most people use now). This was later changed, because if you didn't watch the movie, it would be pretty tough to find your way out.

On Nov. 1st I will be adding Beta missions 1-5 (missions not levels) to my hidden link, the only way to find it is to win my monthly contest, or find it on your own.

This is info from the Beta Version from NINTENDO POWER. First. Game Content. At one point the game was more for mature audiences, I have seen, in example: Read Moneypenny's briefing for Frigate. Not so bad. In the BETA version she said: I won't be a bit surprised if you let that Xenia Woman get Onatopp of you. See? Okay. Then there is level design. Severnaya was in the daytime, with a frosty white sky, instead of purple crimson or blue. All doors were once doors like in Archives. Even the Facility bathroom. I think they changed this because of problems like what would the Control Blast Doors look like? That’s why I think they changed that. There were different guns used in different levels. The guns also had their real names, not substitutes for copyright infringement. The characters were also different in accord to the story. In Archives, while you were being interrogated, Orumov would come in. My guess is that you couldn’t kill him. I guess that's why they removed him from there because he was used in train. Mines had bigger explosions, too. Bond had different suits too. As in Bunker in the BETA version, he wore a tuxedo instead of a spy suit. Also levels had different names, as Frigate when you look at your watch on objectives, at the top it says "Frigate." In the Beta version, it says Destroyer. Well that’s all. I hope this helped some of you.

When people think of OddJob or Mayday, the immediate thought that follows is usually a "What level?" question, or a variation of sorts. Many people think that we are out to find OddJob in the game, running around in his own hidden level, complete with motorcycles, skydiving, a hidden island, and all the previous Bonds. Well, this is simply not the case, and personally, I’m getting tired of all the criticism that the people who actually search for Oddjob are getting. The hidden island in the dam was for an extra objective that rare had to take out at the last minute, and didn’t have time to delete every trace. It was accessible by boat, and Oddjob wasn’t on it. Everyone knows that. Now, consider this. Rare had the objective, realized there were constraints (time or otherwise) and had to delete it, leaving only traces of the island behind. The same is true for the Silo vent, the all Bonds code, the Citadel, and a dozen others. Now, who’s to say that OddJob didn’t fall to the same fate? All we need is the information to where Oddjob was in the game. Perhaps a clue, some evidence that showed where Oddjob resided in the game. We all know of the island and it’s fate, and now we want Oddjob. We don’t need to see him running around shooting at Bond(regardless of how cool that would be), we just want the traces that rare left of him in the game. They left traces of everything else, where’s he? Don’t give up hope friends. We may not find OddJob, but one day, the final clue may put our minds to rest. Keep searching.

Boba's Beta Section



The objectives for the Runway are exactly the same as now.

(Agent) Find Plane Ignition Key
(00-Agent)Destroy Heavy Gun Emplacements
(Secret Agent) Destroy Missile Battery
(Agent) Escape in Plane

The original starting point in the Runway was on the conveyor belt (this was changed because more people used the door). Also Ouromov ran out from the Facility, and that is when the unlimited guards started pouring out.

The biker from the "All Character's Code" was created for this level.

The model of the bike is still located in a cabin on Surface 1. The wall behind the tank was where a gate was located, and 2 bikers came out on bikes. The biker was not wearing a tux, but he was wearing jeans and a black coat.

The doors on the side of the runway were never used for anything nor were they ever unlocked. They served as an "entry way" for the unlimited guards that just appeared halve way down the runway.

A timer was still running from when the Facility mines were set off. The timer started at 2:50.

In the ending sequence the Plane circled back to the Facility, and it blew up.

End Of Mission 1



Method to find Mayday



Go to the Jungle. Kill Natalya, but NO ONE ELSE!!!!! You need (Invincibility, and Invisibility) Like I said don't kill the people or Drone Guns. When you get before the bridge distroy the drone gun with 3
REMOTE MINES then go over the bridge and to the following drone gun located on the upper left hill, use your remaining mines and detonate them as Xenia rolls through the gun or when a part of her body touches
it! And you should see Mayday. Note: this doesn't happen all the time. Trust me it works, just keep trying it and XENIA MUST NOT DIE!!! If you have any questions, e-mail me at marco49@mailcity.com

Well here you go! this should work although it hasn’t worked properly for me but try over and over and you will succeed. there are also alternate ways of doing it.. but here is this way for now......



E-Man’s Article



I've heard lots of things about the BETA version of GoldenEye. i.e. The blue grate in the Dam was for you to get an explosive which Bond used to blow up the green truck, we've all heard that there was motorcycle in the Runway, but the most exciting thing of all is that Rare said that Oddjob and Mayday were in the BETA version. We've heard hundreds of messages stating their locations, but nobody has actually found them. K has stated that he's seen Oddjob. He isn't telling anyone because nobody believed him except for Bad Boyz. Well, think about it K. Why do you think everyone is going to believe you when they've heard hundreds of fake posts and they've spent all of their time looking for them? And then all of a sudden you come along and say you've found Oddjob! They wouldn't think twice about it. So you told Bad Boyz. Now Bad Boyz is saying that he might of seen him. Anyway, if you know, tell us to keep GoldenEye alive. And folks, trust me. Oddjob is not in Ourumov's Briefcase! Think about it! It sounds very stupid!

ØØ2’s Article



Okay, in this issue, I will talk about guards.
Dumb, stupid, freaks, dopes, whatever you call them. But if you think, (Which may be hard for some of you) you will realize that guards add a lot of value to the game. They are funny, as shown in these actions:



They scratch their butt
They scratch the place where the lights don’t go
They swat at flys
They Scratch their leg
They dig for gold (Nose)
They sneeze
They give you the finger!



You may not believe the last one, but I have run up to guards and they would flick (or flip, your preference) me off. They also can be annoying, as when you die, they keep shooting, and some have dumb looks on their faces. Rare programmed them well, so let us be thankful. One more thing: There is a very ugly guard. He has a bowl haircut with two big buckteeth sticking out. He also has weird eyes. Well that’s it.

Unarmed Enemies



This is a really cool code. It unarms the enemies so they don’t have any guns! It’s cool! But it does have it’s glitches. Not all the guards don’t have guns. Some do. Some have mixed weapons. And if you shoot a guard with mixed weapons, weird things happen! I heard that in Aztec that one of the three guys behind the metal boxes (in the room with the big pit), had the Smart Card. Which Jaws’ is usually supposed to have. The code is: 80357005 0005. If you find anything weird, feel free to tell me or Pelord.

New Runway Mystery!



This is something I found last week. I knew it was there, but I never considered it a mystery. Now I do. I’m talking about the door on the Runway. It’s behind the guard (the one next to the drone gun on the left side of the Runway). Most of you have seen it, gotten of the tank, and tried to open it (I did). But there isn’t a "This Door Is Locked" message appearing on the screen. So you leave it, and get back on your tank and finish the level. I forgot about it too, then a friend of mine said that when he first got the game he went over to it and tried to open it, and it did!!! He had no cheats on at the time. Most of you right now are thinking that he lied to me, but the guy does not lie. He said it was empty though. So there was nothing in there. No Oddjob was not there! I tried to open it in various ways. I first put on Invisibility, and tried to get a guard to open it, no luck. I then tried the Destroy Almost Everything code, and the door wouldn’t blow up! I then figured it was a textured part of the wall, and I need to use No Clipping. There was nothing behind it! I now have concluded that it’s just for decoration. But I still believe my friend though. Another thing, in the Beta Version the door was the same, it was used for the unlimited enemies that appeared in the middle of the Runway. But they didn’t physically use it. It also had the "This Door Is Locked" message, but for some odd reason they took it away. Tell me what you think.



Boba’s Beta Section



Here are the objectives for the First Surface in the Beta Version:

The Taser was located in the cabin, at the beginning of the level, that had the two guards and three barrels. The Taser in the Beta Version was a lot better then the Taser in the Standard Version, because it froze the enemies for about twenty seconds. As most of you know the Taser was big and black, and looked like a space ship.

The sky in this level was originally planned to have a black sky (like when you go out side of the bunker in Multiplayer), but was changed early in the game, because it was hard to see.

Every thing else was the same, except a few extra cabins, cameras, and an army truck that drove around on the roads. This truck went from the planetarium to the bunker, to drop off supplies.

At the end of the level, the ventilation tower had halve a ladder on it, but for some reason it would still let you climb up. The ending scene was a little different, because it showed bond unzipping the snowsuit, and leaving it there then jumping in.

Q. What exactly is the Citadel?? - Submitted by Bad Boyz

A. The Citadel was designed late in the game when the Multiplayer Mode was put in. It was named after a setting in one of the older bond movies(I'm not sure which one). It was planned to be in both Multiplayer, and Single player. The level itself was finished, but no objectives, or items (tables, windows, ect.). The level was a grayish color, and resembled the complex, and the temple in a lot of parts. In a later issue of Bad Boyz, I will post the planned objectives that were never there!!

This article I will get off the subject. (Not really.) I will talk about some of the actors that have played "James Bond" as a promo for Alec's Bond Site.

First, my opinion:



Sean Connery	Great
George Lazenby	Worst
Roger Moore	Best
Timothy Dalton	Sucks
Pierce Brosnan	Great



Remember, this is my opinion. Sean Connery was good, he acted great, and had the "debonair" style only possesed by the true James Bond actors. I liked his movies very well. George Lazenby. By far, the worst. MGM didn't even let him do another movie. That is pretty sorry. Roger Moore is my favorite, because besides being Bond, he also added some humor. He was funny, serious, and straight up good. Timothy Dalton. He sucked. He needed to work on his accent. Didn't have the "Bond look". Pierce Brosnan. One of the best. He has the accent, the looks, and the humor. I still like Moore better. Now I leave you with this: Who will be the next Bond after Brosnan? Actually, I leave you with a poll. So we can have all our opinions.
