1. James2 Walker (Daniel1) was born Abt. 1752 in Peru, Berkshire
County, MA, and died Abt. 1830 in Berlin, Rensselaer, New York.
He married Sarah Abt. 1774 in Peru, Berkshire County, MA.
Notes
for James Walker:
A tombstone inscription for "J. Walker, died 1830, age
78" is probably the tombstone of James Walker (who was born
about 1752) since the tombstone is located in the vicinity of the
tombstone of Nathan Walker, son of James.
Father may have been Daniel Walker. Daniel Walker is listed in
both the 1787 and 1788 Tax Roll for Stephentown. There is a
Daniel Walker in the 1790 Stephentown Census next to James
Walker. A "D. Walker" died in 1799, age 82, and Daniel
Walker does not appear in the 1800 Census.
Mother may have been "S. or O." Walker since there is a
tombstone with that inscription indicating died in 1791, age 72.
Also, there was a female, aged 45 and over in the 1790 Census
listed with Daniel Walker.

Notes
for Sarah:
According to family records, mother of Levi was named Rachel;
however, this is
probably an error since the parents of Levi's oldest brother
Nathan are listed
as James and Sarah Walker in the Peru, Berkshire, Massachusetts
vital records
In addition, there is a "Sarah Walker" on the 1798
Membership Roll of the
Church of Christ of Berlin, Rensselaer, New York
Birth year of 1754 is estimated since Sarah was probably two
years younger
than her husband James, born about 1752, and she was aged 70 to
80 in the 1830
Census, if she was living with her son Nathan
Probably died after 1830 since it appears that she lived with her
son Nathan in
the 1830 Census; however, unable to locate her tombstone in local
cemeteries

Children of James Walker and Sarah are:
2 | i. | Rachel3 Walker, born July 01, 1777. |
Notes for Rachel Walker: Sources of Information: Vital Records of Peru, Berkshire, Massachusetts IGI Record |
+ | 3 | ii. | Nathan Walker, born October 27, 1778; died April 13, 1837.
4 | iii. | A. Walker, born 1780 in Stephentown, Rensselaer County, NY; died 1793. |
Notes for A. Walker: May have been born in Massachusetts Unable to determine whether this child is a male or female after studying both the 1790 and 1800 Census Records Birth year is estimated from a tombstone inscription of "A. Walker, died 1793, age 13" who is buried near J. Walker, D. Walker, and S. Walker and is a possible child of James Walker Sources of Information: Cemetery Records of Berlin, Rensselaer, New York |
+ | 5 | iv. | Cynthia Walker, born February 28, 1784 in Stephentown, Rensselaer County, NY; died December 02, 1854 in Berlin, Rensselaer, NY.
6 | v. | Samuel Walker, born Bet. 1786 - 1787 in Stephentown, Rensselaer County, NY; died Aft. 1842 in Gainesville, Wyoming Co., NY. |
Notes for Samuel Walker: Birth date is estimated to be 1786/1787 based on the 1830 Census, age 40 to 50 years old and based on the fact that he probably was born between 1784, when his sister Cynthia was born and 1789 when his brother Levi was born. A "Samuel Walker" lived close to Levi Walker in the 1830 Sheldon Census but unable to locate him in any later census records and an assumption is made that he is a possible brother of Levi since Levi had at least four brothers according to the 1790 and 1800 Census. There was a "Samuel Walker" who purchased land in Gainesville, located about 15 miles from Sheldon, in 1842, who was probably the same Samuel Walker of the 1830 Sheldon Census. Death date is approximated to be after 1842 in Gainesville, New York, since any other records of Samuel Walker cannot be located. Notes for Olive Walker: Birth date is approximated to be 1795 since the 1800 Census indicates a male aged 0 to 10 years; the 1810 Census indicates a male aged 10-16 years; the 1820 Census indicates a male aged 20 to 30 years (assuming he lived with brother Levi in Sheldon, New York); and the 1840 Census indicates Daniel Walker was aged 40 to 50 years Death date must have been after 1852 since unable to locate after that time Sources of Information: 1790, 1800, and 1810 Census of Stephentown, Rensselaer, New York 1820 Census of Sheldon, Wyoming, New York 1840 Census of Bennington, Wyoming, New York Land Deeds of 1816 and 1832 1840 Assessment Roll of Bennington 1852 Bennington Map |
