 St. Vincent & the Grenadines
St. Vincent & the Grenadines constitute an independent nation in the Caribbean. This plural country measures 150 sq. mi. The mainland, St. Vincent is volcanous in origin. La Soufriere, the volcano, towers over 4000 ft and dominates the northern tip of the island. St. Vincent is also home to the oldest botanical garden in the Western Hemisphere. The most famous treasure of ‘the Garden’ is probably the Breadfruit Plant. Here you will find the descendants of the original plant brought to St. Vincent in 1793 by Captain Bligh of Mutiny on the Bounty fame. Years after Mutiny on the Bounty, he made the trip aboard the H.M.S. Providence.

The Grenadines are a chain of islands stretching from St. Vincent in the north, to Grenada in the south. The northernmost Grenadine Isle is Bequia, with its Admiralty Bay visited by yachtsmen from around the world. At the southernmost extreme of the Grenadines is the small Resort Island called Petit St. Vincent, a world-famous getaway. Mustique, Canouan, Union Island, Mayreau and the Tobago Cays (a National Marine Park) make up the rest of the Grenadines. The Grenadines are coveted for their beaches, beachcombing, and excellent snorkelling and diving sites.
