CHAPTER 2 OF DREAMS COME TRUE:

"Truth or Dare, Dolly?" asked Beatrice. Dolly pretended to look serious.
"What do you think, lame brain. What do I answer every time?!"
"Just answer the question, beetlebrain," said Hope.
Dolly rolled her eyes. "Truth."
Beatrice paused to think a moment. "Act out everything you would do on a date with Taylor."
Dolly gave a devilish grin. "Definitely." She smiled and composed herself. Then in a low, squeaky voice:
"Hi Dolly! You look great!" Dolly said in a voice that sounded remarkably like Taylor's. Then Dolly turned to the side and said,
"Thanks Tay. Are you ready to rock!" In her normal voice.
"What do you think?" she said in Taylor's voice. Then she started jumping up and down singing 'MMMBop', and playing air keyboard, being Taylor one moment and herself the next. Hope and Beatrice were rolling around laughing on the floor. Then suddenly Beatrice stopped laughing. She poked Hope and pointed at the window. Hope stopped laughing too. There, at the window, were the Hansons! Ike and Zac laughing, and so was Tay, who was the color of a tomato. Dolly, noticing that her friends were white as a ghost, stopped her performance.
"Geez, I thought it was pretty funny," she said sarcastically, "what the heck happened to you guys? You look like you've seen a ghost. Or," she added with a chuckle, "a Hanson."
Beatrice spoke up "D. . .D. . . Dolly! Look behind you, you nut! The Hansons are right behind you!"
"Whatever," said Dolly. "Right now the Hansons are probably on tour. NOT staring at us through my garage window."
"Shows how much YOU know!" exlaimed a young boys voice.
"Tell me they are not behind me. Tell me this is a bad dream," Dolly turned pale and slowly turned around and looked out the window. Right into the face of three grinning Hansons. Zac called out,
"Hey can we come in?"
All the girls nodded simultaneously. And the Hansons entered Dolly's garage.
"OK. This is a dream. I did NOT just make myself look like a fool in front of the Hansons. I will pinch myself and wake up." Dolly looked down at her hands. "I can't move my freakin' hands!" she screeched. "Somebody PLEASE pinch me!"
"I will!" said Zac. He walked up to Dolly and pinched her arm.
"Ow! Dang it! I'm awake!" she groaned. Then she smiled. Her smile was a bit wavery at first, but then she grinned along with the Hansons.
"Guess you guys think I'm some kind of freak," Dolly said.
"Nah. We've seen a lot worse," said Tay. Both he and Ike pointed at Zac.
"Yes, Thank you!" said Zac, bowing. Everybody laughed. Well, everybody except Beatrice and Hope. They were still frozen. But they soon came out of their trance when they realized that they would never get to know Hanson if they just stood around like idiots. So they lightened up and the six people introduced themselves and began to talk.

"So, you guys play?" said Taylor, pointing at the instruments in the garage. Everybody had been talking for almost two hours, but Tay's eyes kept falling on the instruments in the corner of the room.
"A little," said Beatrice, blushing. Although the girls felt comfortable with the guys, they still felt a bit insecure about their music. What would Hanson think of the girls lame attempt to play their songs? But Taylor was persistent.
"Oh, come on. Play something!" he said.
"All we know are a few of your songs," said Dolly.
"That's great!" said Zac. "Then we can sing along with you guys."
Ike glanced at Beatrice. She was only 14, but she seemed a lot older. Ike felt really shy around her, which was weird. This didn't usually happen! Whenever he was uncomfortable, he would crack jokes. But he wasn't really uncomfortable around Beatrice. Just a little shy. A nice kind of quiet. He glanced over at her once more, then looked towards the instruments. In a soft voice he asked,
"Can you guys play 'I will come to you'?" Beatrice flushed and looked down at her guitar.
"Yeah. Not that well, but. ."
"Don't play that sappy song," said Zac. Then he looked at Beatrice. "You know, Ike wrote that song."
"Cool," said Beatrice, still looking at her instrument.
"Well, if you don't want them to play 'I will come to you' what do you think they should play, Zac?" said Tay.
" Wait," said Dolly, "how about if we played 'Madeline'? That's one of my favorite songs, and I love the words. They express so much feeling." Taylor smiled and his cheeks turned pink. Ike and Zac exchanged meaningful glances.
"Tay wrote that one. Right, Tay?" said Ike. He winked at the girls. "Out of all of us, Taylor wants a girlfriend the most."
"Yeah, right," laughed Tay. "Look whose talking."
"Fine, Fine. Well, lets get off that subject and start playing, shall we?" said Ike.
"I'm ready and 'rarin to go," said Dolly.
Beatrice plucked a chord on her guitar. "Me, too."
"Hope, you ready?" asked Dolly.
Hope banged on her cymbal. "Yeah, I'm ready."
Beatrice plucked the beginning chords to 'Madeline' Dolly started playing the tune on her keyboards, followed by Hope banging out a steady background on her drums.
"Wow! You guys are great!" exclaimed Ike. "When we started playing, we sounded horrible!" Dolly just smiled and started singing. Taylor stood next to her and joined in. Soon everybody was singing. At the end of the song, Taylor started clapping. Zac and Ike started whistling and stomping their feet. The girls turned bright red.
"We weren't that good," said Dolly. "We have a lot of work ahead of us if we ever want to sound half as good as you guys."
"Flattery will get you everywhere," said Zac, laughing. Everybody grinned. Then Dolly turned to look at the guys.
"Listen, I have an idea. I'm having a party this weekend. Me, Beatrice, and Hope were going to play. Do you guys want to join us?" said Dolly excitedly. "It would be awesome if you guys could come." Ike, Tay, and Zac looked at each other and nodded. Taylor turned to Dolly and smiled.
"We'd love to. But 2 questions first."
"Shoot" replied Dolly.
"One. What kind of party is it going to be? And two, who all will be coming?"
"Well, it's a pool party. We can set up the instruments on the deck. And it will just be a bunch of my friends from school. Some guys and girls."
Zac started screaming. "Teenage girls! Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Everybody run and take cover!" Zac jumped up and hid behind the sofa, making everyone laugh.
"But really," said Ike "I don't mean to sound rude, but will they, like, mob us?"
"Probably," said Dolly grinning. "But don't worry, we'll keep things from getting out of hand."
"Cool. Well, we'll be there," said Tay.
"Great! I can't wait to see what my friends are going to do when they see Hanson at my Party!" said an excited Dolly.
The brothers groaned, "Neither can we!" said Ike. As the brothers were leaving, Taylor realized something.
"Oh! I almost forgot! My mom wanted me to ask you guys to dinner tonight."
"I wish," said Dolly, "but my parents are dragging me to some boring party tonight." She rolled her eyes, "I'd rather be having my teeth pulled out!" The guys grinned. Then they said bye to each other and the Hansons returned to their home
