Good Times
Growing up I spent allot of my summers on Grandpa's Wheat ranch at Dyer Hill Wa. Grandpa would come in from the field so black from all the dirt. I could not wait for him to get washed up so he could give me a big hug

Mom made me the coolest Barbie furniture ever. Sofas, chairs & kitchen appliances out of milk cartons, a beautiful captains table and chairs set using toothpicks, just to name a few.
I can remember as a child wanting the fancy store bought Barbie items not realizing untell I was grown up just how lucky I was

I was surprised one year to come home from school on Halloween to find Mom had made me the coolest Halloween costume. It was a cheerleader costume made out of paper bags. While trick or treating it began to rain & by the time I got home my beautiful costume was ruined

when I was in the 6th grade I had borrowed the auto harp from school and I had forgotten it at home. Dad had to bring it to school. When Dad brought it into the classroom everything went quite everyone was shocked at how tall he was. I remember what a wonderful feeling it was.

Some things to remember
When I was 3 weeks old I went to church for the first time.
My first trip to Grandma & Grandpa's wheat ranch for the first time when I was 4 1/2 months old.
My first vacation was when I was 7 months old to CA, NV.
July 1963 we went to the ocean. We camped in a tent & played in the sand. I was sure afraid of those big waves

Dusty Acres
Dusty acres was the family wheat ranch owned by the Rigg family
Nena Davies was a school teacher and she sent her application to the Rigg family who were in charge of finding a teacher for the Dyer Hill school.
When Johnnie Rigg saw her picture he told his mother that this was the woman they should hire, she was so beautiful.
Nena was hired and the courtship began.
Johnnie and Nena were married on September 27, 1938. They spent there winters in Nena's childhood home in Day Creek Wa. and their summers in Dusty Acres farming the wheat ranch. The main house still stands today, it has been remodled since there son Ralph Rigg and his family took over the farming. A Trailer has been moved next door for Nena to live in once Johnnie passed away

Day Creek WA, This beautiful house was in my mothers family for 56 years. The entry way was the first original house built by my great grandmother and her brothers in 1918, she lived there with her 2 daughters tell Nena got married in 1938 to Johnnie, he then built the larger back half and out buildings, it was a beautiful home, all the church functions were held there because of it's size.
Running down the property was a beautiful creek along side of it is the white fence in the picture.
My Grandmother Nena & Mother Voncile were both raised in this house.

As a child I loved nothing more then to go to Day Creek and visit Grandma & Grandpa
