The first time my idiot friends and I ever tried to have a seance, I was in Junior High. Jackie and I had went over to a friend's house for a sleep over. As I said before, we were idiots for messing with something that we knew very little about. All 3 of us piled on to Karen's bed and sat with our legs crossed 'indian' style. We had set up some candles on her dresser and turned the lights off.
So here we were... sitting in a triangle on Karen's bed. We joined hands and closed our eyes. Then Karen started chanting an invocation. I was pretty sceptical about the whole thing. As she was chanting, the room started to feel colder and I opened up my eyes to peek at the other two girls to see what they were doing. Both had their eyes closed and looked as if they were concentrating so I closed my eyes again. After Karen had been chanting for a while a very wierd (and kinda funny) thing happened. My legs started shaking. I'm not talking about just a little shake... they were shaking so bad the bed was jiggling from it.
Karen imediatley stopped chanting and asked me if I was okay. At this point I was pretty embarrased because I couldn't stop my legs from shaking. All I could do was answer her with "I don't know". Well, Karen told me to stretch out my legs and see if that would help... it didn't. I ended up with Karen and Jackie both sitting on my legs and holding them down. We would have made a hilarious sight if anyone would have walked in at that moment. I was soooooooo embarrased. I wanted to crawl under something and hide. After about 20 minutes my legs stopped shaking as abruptly as they started. We decided not to do the seance and played some games instead.
A few weeks later I told my grandmother of the incident. She said that it was probably God's way of telling me that I was doing something I shouldn't have. In other words he was saying I was a big dope for trying it.
Unfortunately, I'm one of those stubborn people and later on in life I would end up trying it again.
