My Personal Philosophy
This is the one page that has been the most difficult for me to put into words. My beliefs are always evolving but the basics are still there. I call myself Wiccan. The reason for that is because Wicca is a recognized religion and mainstream society has really no idea what that means. Reality is that I have a smattering of Wicca, a smidgeon of Native American Spirituality, a dab of Christianity, and a blend of other eclectic sources.
Wicca, as a religion, is only a little over 50 years old, created by Gerald Gardner. The religion he created has very little in common with the Wiccan religion as it is out there today. As with ALL religions, Wicca borrowed from earlier sources to form a new idea.
"OK--This is something I have never put into words before so please be patient with my ramblings. First I need to say, there are 6,000,000,000 people in the world. There are 6,000,000,000 different views on who God is. Imagine God, the creator of all, in his infinity. It's a tough thing to imagine, huh? So let's put a limitation that we as human can understand. Let's pretend that God is all the water on earth. This includes oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, ponds, toilet bowl... all water. If we took a thimble and dipped it into the water and filled it... this is ALL, that all of humanity of all times, understands and knows about "the Creator Of All"."
I have, I believe, a unique view of what the deity is to me. I believe in one God/dess, both male and female, who takes on the attributes of the many Gods/Goddesses as the situation requires. Of course it is more involved than this..."
The creator works in mysterious ways. Since first writing the above paragraph, I have come across two separate articles pertaining to "my unique view of the creator". I received the following article via an email group I subscribe to. Click here to read it.
Jesus said, "If you have the faith of a mustard seed you can move a mountain." He didn't say faith in him or the creator. Faith only. By focusing my thoughts, I can cause things to happen....magickal things
I rationalized the use of magick like this. It goes all the way back to creation. First there was nothing and then there was the universe. (Hmmm sounds like the creation story or is it the big bang theory (same thing, different words)).
Creation was the most awesome thing ever done. The energy that was needed was tremendous. This energy is ambient in all things...and surrounds us, for lack of better words, like a fluid. This is one of the hardest points for me to explain.
Let's just take the simplest atom. Hydrogen. It contains just one proton, one neutron, and one electron. Very simple. I believe God's energy holds this atom together. When you split this atom, God's power is released. The Hydrogen bomb.
In a way, electricity is God's energy. Am I making sense here. In my mind it is logical. In working magick, we are able to tap into this "ambient energy" and direct it with our will. Faith is what it takes to make it work. Christian prayers do the same thing. (different words)
In my travels down this magickal path, I have caused many miracles to happen. It wasn't how my preconceptions of magick was. No flash of light and smoke. It was a natural thing.
One incident that comes to mind... I had a task to do. I asked for strength and wisdom to handle it. Just before I was to perform my task, I recieved my strength and wisdom, in the form of another person. He and I finished my task and became close friends for a short while.
As a Christian... I had my prayers answered. They all were. Maybe not like I wanted, but answered like I needed them to be. Faith is the cause.
As a pagan... I've had my magick answered. They all were. Maybe not like I wanted, but answered like I needed them to be. Faith is the cause. Do you see my pattern here... I'm sure you do. I really do apologize for this monologue... but I just don't know how to put my theosophy any different. I said all the above to say this.
Just like most Christians, pagans never achieve what they desire most... to commune with God. The reason is they don't have the faith to make it happen.
They (Christians/pagans) still put limitations on the creator, who has no limits.
They refuse to listen to god who talks to each of us everyday. Because of things that have happened in my Christian and pagan walk down life's path, I no longer use the word coincidence. If you want to hear god talk...
I hope this makes sense. Again it's logical to me because I lived it. Your path is different than mine. We may or may not be walking to the same destination, but we each have our own mountains to climb, rivers to cross, and obstacles to maneuver around. That's why I said in the earlier in this
article
