Personal Views Of The Moon

The moon has always been a fascinating object for me. I remember, when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, I was glued to the television. I have spent many hours watching it with and without my telescope. I guess it should be no surprise that it has a very important role in my chosen religion. The purpose of this page is to show how much the moon has influenced our myths, language, and behaviors.

The Moon is a fundamental part in many of the Old Religions. Because its cycles coincide in duration with womens cycles, the moon is almost always portrayed as female. In small tribal communities, the women of the tribe almost always start menstruating on the same day, which coincided with a certain phase of the moon. The moon is a powerful symbol because it also controls the tides in the ocean. Since our bodies are a high percentage of water, it stands to reason that the moon may also influence our bodies as well.
