
Diti is the Hindu mother goddess archtype, also known as Mahadevi. She is the goddess of creativity and of women. She has a dual portral. One as a mild and loving goddess, holding pleasure and pain in her right hand and the other with life and death in her left. She is said to be the anscetor of demons and giants called Daityas, who are the demonic Hindu version of the Titans. She was also the mother to the 49 Maruths, who were creatures of the night. Diti was the wife of the sage, Kashyap. She is also equated with Danu. |
