Self Dedication Ritual
I am assuming if you are reading this article you are considering dedicating yourself to the God/dess. If this is true, the congratulations on your upcoming initiation. This "rite of passage" is an
impotant part of your spiritual path. This ritual should be done as close
as possible to the full moon. In considering this step, I am
assuming that you have grounded yourself in knowledge about the craft.
I did my initiation during the summer solstice. My preparation included abstinence from sex for a period of time. Taking a long bath and fasting the day of the ritual. I then drove to a spot I thought to be very sacred and set up my altar and envisioned my circle around me. I then meditated concentrating on what the craft meant to me and what I wanted to accomplish. The main thing is to open your mind and let the God/dess reveal herself to you. Listen to the sounds that you hear and really look at what you are seeing. The God/dess may not reveal herself immediately, but it will happen. Patience is very crucial to the craft...
I am the firm believer that you don't have to do a bunch of mumbo jumbo to experience the fullness of the craft. Your ritual only needs to be as complicated as you need it to be. On this page I have a basic outline for rituals and on my "Correspondence Tables" there are the proper colors for your candles and scents and so on to use. I also believe for your ritual to be effective you should make it yours by writing it yourself.
I hope this helps you and I wish the Brightest of Blessings on your new chosen path and may the God/dess continue to light your way.
Blessed Be.
