Aztec legend says Coatlicue became pregnant when a ball of feathers touched her while she was sweeping the temple. The other Gods, who were her children also, plotted to kill her, but she was save by the unborn Sun God Huitzilopochtwho jumped out of his mothers womb. His sister, Coyolxauhqul, was decapitated and the grieving mother placed her luminous head in the sky which became the Moon. |
